Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicIt's a shared accommodation, so you have to take into account that you share it with other people, I have no problem with that. But it wasn't written here that you share it with two dogs who have free movement in the house. One of them was rolling around under our feet in the kitchen, when we dropped something he quickly picked it up, but what upset me was that he barked at my six-year-old son. I don't think he's a bad dog, but we don't know him and my son was afraid of him. The owner told me that the dogs have free movement and that I should close the door. I could close the door here, but they weren't in the kitchen and I couldn't put the dog out on the terrace because he had a dog door for the way back and especially I don't know the dog so I won't force him to do anything, that's what the owner should do. Strong dog odor on lower floors
Apart from what I didn't like, it was a nice accommodation and you can see that the owner cleans it, considering how busy it is it's just ok. The promised view was there. The room was tiny without large storage spaces and a wardrobe, but that didn't matter at all for one night. There was also an armchair on the terrace of the upper room. The bathroom was ok, I struggled a bit with the light and the queue in the morning, but that was to be expected when the dogs woke everyone up at once :-) you can park for free right in front of the accommodation, if there is a place available.

United StatesSharing the bathroom, especially since the toilet and shower were together - meaning someone taking a shower tied things up for a while. The parking was tricky, since it's in a high density residential neighborhood where neighbors seemed not keen on having to share parking space with tourists.
The location seemed out of the way, but once we were installed we easily walked to the medieval city. This turned out to be an advantage, since we were away from the crowds but close to everything. Our room had a view overlooking the old walls. The kitchen allowed guest to bring in their own food and prepare meals if desired.

United StatesDidn’t like that the “shared bathroom” was on a different floor of the bedroom. Sometimes smelt like cigarette smoke in the common areas, thankfully not in our bedroom.
Perfect location for an overnight stay, that was very close (5 min walk) to the Carcassonne citadel. Street parking was free.

SwitzerlandMy travel companion did not like being greeted by dogs. We waited for a while (in the scorching heat) before we were let in.
The room (upper floor) is modern.

PolandIt wasn't clean enough - in the room there were spiderwebs, small flies, plentiful mosquitos etc. The sheets didn't smell good and the "sofa" on the balcony was totally broken and gutted. We weren't prepared for 2 bullteriers, that the host calls "adorable, little dogs". This is an agressive and dangerous breed and we didn't feel comfortable around hounds growling at us and begging for food. It was impossible to avoid interactions, although we tried. The room is very small and there is no place for storage, so it's kind of alright only for shorter stay. It is hard to access the shared bathroom even though only 2 rooms were in use. All that is nothing compared to weird/stoned host behaviour. He gets emotional, hostile, rude and almost agressive when asked anything - in my case: to open the gate that he closes for nighttime and we did not have the key for. He claims he does not speak the language and gives inappropriate, confrontational remarks. The host is unfit to receive guests and should be avoided at any cost as well as blocked from booking platform. He favors some guests over others because - for instance - they speak Spanish. You should have asked instead of yelling. We do too...
Close to the castle and great view from the balcony. Access to the kitchen and possibility to prepare meals.

Hassle free 1 night stay before early morning flight, location is really good, 10 min walk to the castle ,15 min walk to town centre, free parking, sadly jacuzzi wasn't working but it wasn't big deal for us. For the location value is really good. And in the morning only 10 min drive to the airport.

SpainOnly one thing: the toilet and bathroom area is shared, which I wasn't expecting, and on a lower floor from our room.
The location is excellent for visiting the old town. The room was comfortable, with all the mod cons. Axel, the host, made an effort for us to feel at home. The kitchen area and garden are very good.

ItalyI didn't like the fact that I had to check out very early. Ok for the value of the money, but checking out at 11 with no possibility of being late is rather unfair (unless you book for another day, which would make the value of the stay double, so not at all convenient. I would also recommend avoiding having a carpet in front of the shower where everyone would be able to get in with their shoes, it is not really hygienic.
I like the position and the value for the money. The city is a little bit further from the room, but the important thing was to be close to the castle and the restaurant. What I also appreciate is the fact that there are a lot of modern tools around the place (the coffee machine, the rubbish bin, the tv.
