How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation is okay as you have quick access to the metro and can get anywhere from there. The host is a sweet old and experienced lady, and you can practice your French with her. Very cheap but okay breakfast with bread, butter, jams and tea/coffee - no protein, no fruits, no vegetables, no cheeses nor sausages.
Complete lack of comfort and questionable privacy. Shared bathroom among up to 3 groups of guests and the host. No soap in the shower. Very old bedding and one towel per person that is worn out and has residual smells. The host was in our rooms while we were out, moving and rearranging our things despite them being stacked neatly. What completely ruined everything was that we were unexpectedly asked to leave by 22:00 instead of planned 2:00am I informed beforehand. This was particularly frustrating as we had an early flight from Beauvais. The landlady mistakenly assumed we were from Ukraine or Russia and insisted on verifying the rooms before allowing us to depart.

Verified reviewnothing was there to like
No locks on the door of my room and no room key was provided to me. The landlady walked into my room, while I was lying on the bed in compromised position without clothes. There were bed bugs and I still have blisters on my whole body 4 days after my trip and don't know how long these will remain. The land lady ordered me to turn the lights off in the whole house even when I didn't switch them on. She prohibited me from putting water bottle on the table in my room or anywhere in the house. There were no bedside table provided. The room was too small and there was no space even to put my laptop bag, except on the bed. Breakfast was included but only coffee and toast was provided with butter, no eggs , or cereals. Bed sheets and linen were never changed. I stayed there for 4 nights and it was hell. I will never ever book my accommodation with booking.com ever again.

Verified reviewThe only good thing about this accommodation is the location. Otherwise, I would advise everyone against it. But actually, it's not even worth spending time there because of the good location.
I've never experienced such an unfriendly host and felt so unwelcome. I would advise anyone not to stay there. 1) Problematic check-in: No bell, the email gives a number that does not work and only after I found another number via Google and made myself understood after endless talking (the hostess does not understand English), I was let in. 2) The hostess is rude and tells you all the time what not to do. 3) No privacy as the room is not lockable. The hostess comes to your room in your absence and checks everything. 4) I had come to Paris for the International Salsa Congress. That's why I left in the evening and came back in the early hours of the morning. The problem is that you aren't allowed to shower between 22.00 and 7.00 o'clock, because that wakes up the hostess. I had to hurry to shower before 10pm, and when I got home from the party, I didn't take a shower. And the continental breakfast is only available until 9:30 am. 5) It's forbidden to eat or make tea in the room. When I wanted to eat a pizza I had brought with me as soon as I arrived, I had to do so under the supervision of the hostess and hurry up because she said she wanted to go to sleep (it was 9:30 pm). This measure generally is perhaps understandable, because the room is full of old objects. However, I did not get the offer to use the kitchen instead. 6) You have to share the bathroom with the host. From the first moment I had the impression that my hostess wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible and was only anxious to impose prohibitions on me. To be honest, I felt like I was in a disciplinary camp and not like a guest. I felt so uncomfortable in this place that at first I would even have been willing to go to any other accommodation. The accommodation is not worth the money. Over 360 euros for 3 nights and with such unfriendly service and no privacy, in retrospect I would not want to stay there again even if it was free.
