How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI like the location and the size of the room
It's' great to have a free parking, but. You have to get into the apartment with not an easy place to park, take out the luggage, then collect the garage key and park the car 500 m away.

Verified reviewBeen skiing in Chamonix for over a decade, stayed in various locations around the town, but this place ticks all the boxes. Compact but everything you need, including washing machine great oven, 2 pan hob and microwave. Excellent value and Louis communication before arrival was exceptional. Yes it is tricky to locate but welcome to Chamonix, comes with the territory. Having secure parking is superb, as this can be tricky during the high season and being a a short walk into the centre is ideal. Thankyou Louis, will book again 🙏
Nothing to dislike

Verified reviewFantastic location, difficult to find even with very detailed instructions
Bed was a basic sofa bunk bed. Owner messaged after we’d booked to say linens weren’t included, glad I took my own as previous reviews state the linens are stained. Owner messaged me at 22.43 reminding me about check out time. Apartment is fine for a couple but any more and it would be cramped.

Difficult to locate Stairs only, no lift. Charged 10 euros extra for sheets and towels. Host implied cost would include bed to be made, but bedding left in a pile on bunk.

Verified reviewThe apartment has massive potential but small adjustments to host operations are definitely needed.
Apart from the apartment not being clean the cutlery, glassware, plates and pots dirty also the toilet seat was full of urine . To be honest the quality of the bedding is extremely poor. If we had to pay for it additionally we would not stay in the apartment. The pillows are so used that it’s a shame the housekeeper thinks they are ok to be still slept on. Also second bigger knife would be helpful as you only have one little knife.

Verified reviewLocation is really amazing in the center of chamonix and all the restaurants are right outside. It is a bunk bed and a sofa down. Place was clean and instructions were clear.
There was no tissue box in the apartment and the soap dispenser in the toilet was empty. The owner asked for an extra charge of 20€ if we wanted to have clean bedsheets in the apartment.

Shortly after booking I received a WhatsApp from the owner. Like many before me (according to the reviews) I had missed the sentence in the description about the £20 supplement for bedding and towels. As we could not carry this stuff with us on our flight we agreed to pay the supplement. The owner messaged us to say the room was ready a couple of hours early, which was a great help. When we arrived we discovered we had to make the beds ourselves. Upon doing so we noticed the bedding smelt awful. It smelt like many people before us had slept in it, without it being washed. We then noticed the bedding was dirty and stained, sadly confirming our suspicions. It then became apparent that there was only enough bedding for the bottom bunk. The top bunk had no sheet for the mattress, or duvet cover. We then went to check if the towels had been washed. Thy were very old looking, small towels and although they didn’t smell as bad as the bedding they certainly did not smell fresh. We then noticed they were dirty and stained as well. The first cupboard we opened revealed filthy, unwashed dishes. I messaged the owner about the problems. A few hours later he messaged back apologising and waving the supplement cost. This still left us with no bedding in freezing cold Chamonix and a very uncomfortable feeling of trying to relax in filth. I have the impression the owner does not know how to run a short stay accommodation. I can only imagine he thinks he’s saving money by not investing in some nice bedding and towels, or by not using one of the many linen companies that provide services to the hotels in Chamonix. I imagine he think he’s saving money by not paying for a professional cleaning service. However the lack of these basic needs are certainly costing him dearly. As is the lack of communication in resolving complaints/problems his guests might have.

High price for linens, €10/person, but this seems to be standard practice in the area.

There were some basics missing, but not the fault of the owner. No hand soap. 1 roll of toilet paper. We had to purchase some.
