Excellent Location; Quirky Old College Dorm-Type Space
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveler

    • Stayed 7 nights

This property is like an old, tiny college dorm room with quirks that take time to get to know and get used to. The shower/bath is sometimes really hot and sometimes very lukewarm, the stove sometimes boils water incredibly fast and other times not at all, the small lamps are all beat up and placed randomly, the hallway smells of something dead, there is no welcome mat to soak up melted snow from your shoes so there builds a puddle inside the front door (hard-soled slippers were nice to have to avoid walking around in water), there are 4 bars downstairs (out your window) and people tend to be up making a lot of noise until past midnight, kids seem to love to play in the courtyard outside so there tends to be a lot of noise during the day, you need to be able to have strong legs to get into the shower which is about a foot above the bathroom floor (my aging mother would not be able to do it), and the power cut off twice while I was cooking (the breakers flipped). One of the office staff at Happy Rentals, a young man, was very friendly, kind, and helpful. The young women couldn't be bothered. Ear plugs helped for sleeping, and I slept on the pullout queen couch instead of the crawl space above it (when I emailed the office about the pullout couch I saw in the photos before arriving, they had no idea what I was talking about). They had an extra amount of sign-up things to do once signed up on Booking; I had to go into another site and get the check-in info, pay something, and do other tasks a certain amount of days before arriving. I stayed for 7-8 nights and at the beginning, I hated it; but by the end, once I figured it all out and lowered my standards (having just come from a very nice chalet for the same price in Zermatt, but without kitchenette), I loved it and was sad to go.

The standout feature of this property is the excellent location. A minute walk from the Aiguille du Midi cable car, the bus station, and a train stop, and less than a minute from the main shopping drag, restaurants, a grocery store, bars, and incredible views. From the room, you can see the Aiguille du Midi cable car floating through the air a block away. From the little stoop, up and right, you can see Mont Blanc. There were plenty of cooking utensils and pots, plates, bowls, etc. There is a washer/dryer in the bathroom. There are a number of shelves to organize your things. My specific place was on the 3rd floor, and there was an elevator; I never had to wait more than a few seconds for the elevator.

Great little pad but bunk bed too small for us.

The only thing which disappointed was the bunk bed. It doesn't have enough headroom and is almost impossible to get into and out of. Therefore my daughter and I shared the single sofa bed! I did not raise this with the rental office as I was too busy enjoying the mountains. If the bunk bed were adequate I would rate this a 9/10.

Good little studio in great location very close to bus station and the Aguille Midi. It is on the third floor of a block of apartments. Just adequate size. Well equipped with cooking facilities, appropriate clean bedding and a well functioning bathroom with clean towels and a clothes washing machine . Nice balcony with view of the Aguille. There are three bars and a nice little supermarket below which are very useful. The rental office is next door which is reassuring and they were there even on Sunday evening. I liked it a lot.

Dirty. There were dark hairs and dust bunnies on the bed linnen Contrary to the description, There is no (free) WiFi and when I asked for it I had to pay a crazy amount. Staff wasn’t particularly helpful or friendly, but I guess that just comes with a low price

Great location. Nice balcony. All cutlery and kitchen tools present. Nice welcome bottle of wine

Internet login was not available first day. Noise from cafes. Guests should be warned to close blinds to stop the noise.

    The view is spectacular

Place was small - we were ok with it but for people who expect some space it might be a problem.

Great location and a really cosy place. Maybe the aparment wasn't the biggest but tbh we felt really great there. Very close to center, mountain view, shops, pubs, restaurant downstair. For sure coming back if we come to Cham again.
