Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe towels provided were all damp and smelt damp, the shower also smelled. This didn’t spoil our stay. The host did contact us after accusing us of using all the beds (5 of them) for 4 of us. Calling us disrespectful. I explained that we only slept in 3 of the beds, but that my children sat on each to decide the ones they wanted, I then advised which beds were slept in and that we did use additional pillows as the ones provided were not to our liking. I didn’t hear anything more from the host.
The property was beautiful, modern, lovely location and well equipped. Beds were comfy, plenty of cooking facilities etc.

Beautiful gîte, spacious and clean. Perfect for the family. It is in a very quiet and beautiful area. However, you will need to drive to buy bread/ groceries/ ... as there are no shops around.

United KingdomExceptionally clean and modern Gite in a peaceful rural area of France. My guests and myself were very impressed with the accommodation. When I arrived, the owner welcomed me and handed me the keys. It's a shame we only stayed for one night. This is a truly exceptional property. 5* Recommended.

United KingdomNothing- worth noting that the Gite is a drive away from shops as others have mentioned. This is not an issue if you have considered food before you arrive. Also, towels are not provided - again be prepared to bring your own in from the car should you wish to have a shower.
The Gite was spacious and contained all of the facilities a family of 5 would want for an overnight stop. The location was excellent - 25 minutes from Calais - and secure gated parking was fantastically reassuring. Such excellent quality for the price paid - as others have said, it was almost a shame to just be staying the one night. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back and stay for a little longer.

United KingdomIf I have to put one negative (and it’s harsh) the approach to the driveway would benefit from tarmac. The rough loose gravel was a little daunting on two wheels but not an issue, just something to be aware of. The property is so good though I can’t score anything other than 10.
I booked this as a last night stopover before the tunnel after a motorcycle tour for myself and husband each riding bikes. I didn’t expect too much - it was the location which was the deciding factor (about 30 minutes from LeShuttle terminal) but wow! What an utterly amazing bargain holiday home; it was huge, exceptionally well fitted and equipped, lovely facilities and super clean. I felt a lot of care and thought had gone into this holiday home. It was so quiet and peaceful too and felt the bikes were secure in the garden parking area behind gates. Really really enjoyed our overnight stop. Will definitely return.

BelgiumShops are not in walking distance: car is needed. The rooms didn't have airco: it is not needed most of the year - but if it is hot, mosquitos can enter during ventilation
A lot of space, very modern accommodation: spacious kitchen, big living room table. Big bed rooms, comfortable bath room with walk-in shower. The apartment is really good for small children: the garden is completely fenced, and although it has 2 floors, each of the stairs can be closed with child barriers.

Located in the charming village of Hermelinghen, Charmant Gite a la Ferme offers a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. During my one-night stay, I was thoroughly enchanted by the spacious rooms tastefully decorated with local touches. The serene surroundings of the countryside added to the tranquil ambience, providing a peaceful escape. The property was well-equipped, making it easy to feel at home. The host was incredibly friendly and responsive to my questions before our arrival. With its idyllic setting and cosy atmosphere, Charmant Gite a la Ferme is an ideal choice for a peaceful getaway in the heart of France. I will definitely be returning to this place.

United KingdomIt feels mean to niggle over such a lovely place but the property description was problematic. It says the entire unit is located on the ground floor and this is definitely not the case. The living/dining room and kitchen are on the ground floor, along with a very well equipped bathroom with raised toilet and walk in shower. But the bedrooms are all upstairs and the staircase is a bit steep. We managed to get upstairs to bed (just about, though my husband slipped and fell a couple of steps) and we were OK because there's also a toilet on the first floor, in between the two bedrooms, to use during the night. We made our way carefully downstairs next morning and tried not to have to go upstairs again. We were fortunate in that we were travelling with our son, who was able to get our things and bring them down. I didn't see a bed on the ground floor though there's a sofa which might convert to a single bed. I don't know. There was no sign of sheets or bedding for it if so. I mention all this to warn anyone who has very restricted mobility as we do that there appears to be no ground floor sleeping accommodation. I would reiterate that the property is beautiful and we loved it but the description needs re-writing.
A beautiful house, the description and photos really don't do it justice. It's all very high spec, bright and airy and spotlessly clean. It's also incredibly spacious and well equipped. On the first floor, there were two separate bedrooms, one with a king size double bed and the second bedroom had three single beds, with a mezzanine above containing a further double bed. It all looks very new and was incredibly smart.

United KingdomAlthough the kitchen has almost everything needed, it would be useful to have a couple of little extras for people who are only staying short term and haven't packed to be entirely self-reliant, e.g washing up liquid, coffee filters. It's only a small matter; the place was very well equipped.
Location easy to reach from the port but quiet, countryside feel. An easy drive to a bakery for breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, the shower (and the two bathrooms in general) excellent. Everything very clean and well-arranged. The hosts were most accommodating when we arrived earlier than planned, and helpful in explaining how things worked. They were very responsive when we contacted them, but left us alone until asked. There were USB charging ports next to nearly every plug socket, lots of places to charge everything up.
