How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewExcellent restaurant, beautiful and individual decor everywhere, elevator, you can get a free bike to use, good air conditioning, good buffet breakfast, nice pool (funky colors!), easy parking
I had a luxury room but the mattress was way too hard for my back so not sure I'll stay there again - otherwise it's a great place

Verified reviewVery unique experience, the staff was amazing! The rooms and public spaces were outstanding, along with the grounds. It was really fun to stay in what was at one time a Chateau. It was also a great location to the Chantilly Chateau.
It would be nice if the pool was outdoors. The outdoor area by the ;pool was enclosed by walls. You felt separated from the outdoors. Since it was all enclosed, the screaming kids in the pool did not make it appealing.

Verified reviewBeautiful rooms and grounds.
The staff at the reception wasn't very friendly and helpful. We had a few suitcases and they just pointed to the room as if it was very close, but we ended up having to follow a maze and walk up and down many stairs, while there was a door much closer from the carpark. Expensive experience!!
Dear Annie-Pierre, We are delighted that you were impressed by the beauty of our rooms and grounds. Our century-old château and its lush parkland do indeed offer a setting that inspires wonder. However, we are surprised and sorry to hear that the welcome at reception did not meet your expectations, especially as we welcomed you for an early check-in at 12 noon. The warmth and attentiveness of our team are at the heart of our hospitality philosophy, and we are surprised that you were not offered assistance with your luggage, which is our usual practice. Regarding the tour to your room, our team usually takes new guests on a complete tour to show them the different areas of our establishment, such as our restaurant, the Social Bar, the Kids Club and the Health Club. We regret that this intention was not clearly communicated. For your future visits, please feel free to express your preferences upon arrival. Whether you would like a full guided tour or direct access to your room, our team will be happy to accommodate your needs. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and offer you a stay that matches the majesty of our estate, combining modern comfort and historic charm. Verified reviewWe loved the room, the bed was extremely comfy, the room had all of the amenities needed and a huge rainfall shower. The quality of the gym, grounds and pool was brilliant. It was an extremely relaxing stay.
The breakfast, the quality and quantity of options available was extremely disappointing. We utilised the gym and had breakfast at 08:30am which isn't that late but the majority of 'options' were empty and did not get refilled throughout the entire service. Available was coffee, yogurt, hard boiled egg, stale croissant, some chopped up tomatoes and cucumber. We had to get breakfast out.

Verified reviewThe property is absolutely expertly maintained. We had no issues during our stay. The place was spotless, welcoming and very private. The pool facilities were excellent. Our suites were next to each other and they were absolutely gorgeous.
Dear Felipe, The whole team is delighted to hear your story. The authenticity you describe is at the very heart of our identity. Our Anglo-Norman château, witness to a rich history since it was built in 1911 by Jeanne, reveals its unique character in every stone and woodwork. Our 6 hectares of verdant parkland are a haven of tranquillity where time seems to flow differently, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We're particularly pleased that your neighbouring suites appealed to you. Each of our rooms has its own personality, while offering the refined comfort that is the signature of our establishment. Our Healthclub with its beautiful swimming pool is a real haven of peace that we look after with great care. It is a pleasure to know that you were able to take full advantage of these facilities. We look forward to seeing you again to enjoy our new comfortable rooms and our beautiful heated swimming pool. Jérôme GAUTIER - Reception Manager Château Jeanne & The Forest

Verified reviewThe location is great, easy to get to from Paris and it’s beautifully decorated with some super rooms and a lovely view
The mattress was absolutely solid & uncomfortable, downstairs the facilities were limited (location/number of toilets), and the staff were pretty unhelpful considering this is meant to be 4*. A few of us stayed pre conference at own cost & were forced into a buffet for the evening, the food was average at best, Luke warm and they charged us €50!
Dear Sarah, Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions of your stay at Château Jeanne The Forest - Château de Montvillargenne. Our house is located in a peaceful setting, just a few minutes from Chantilly Castle. I am delighted to read that you were touched by the beauty and charm of the surroundings. I have taken note of your comment about the bedding. It is generally rented for its comfort, but I understand that this aspect is very personal. As far as the common areas are concerned, we are aware that the unusual layout of our historic château can sometimes be surprising. We have 21 meeting rooms, all with natural daylight. The spaces for your stay have been chosen by your organisation. However, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the flow and comfort of our visitors, while preserving the authenticity of the premises. However, our teams are devoted to our guests and do their utmost to help them, as our customers always find what they bring with them. Regarding your dinner, we are offering a buffet with a choice of starters, main courses and desserts on Sunday evening for €39. We do not oblige any of our residents to dine in our rooms. The concierge service is at your disposal to make a reservation in one of the restaurants around the hotel. Please note that everything is prepared with care and delicacy to delight our guests and do honour to our beautiful region. If, however, a dish lacks heat, a simple request to our teams present would have solved the problem. We look forward to seeing you again and providing you with a completely satisfactory experience in our beautiful château, a true haven of peace on the outskirts of Paris. Verified reviewIt was a disaster.
We expected our confortable, quiet and relaxing trip in a luxurious castle for our wedding anniversary, but it became a totally disappointing stay. They prioritized a huge group tourists so we could not eat in the restaurant inside which was exclusively reserved for them. We could stay only in the annex , not inside the castle, still we were woken up by huge noise created by the group tourists in the early morning, before they leave. The hotel staff are cleaning and maintaining the hotel until 5pm and from 8am, meaning that the cleaning wagons and people were in the corridor all the time screaming at each other. One of staff opened our room’s door calling his colleague’s name ! They don’t even manage which room is occupied or to clean ! I’m level 3 traveller in booking.com, but it was my worst stay.
Dear Yuko, It is with great care that we read your words and the disappointment that tinged your stay. Our estate, rich in history, is made up of a variety of spaces, with rooms located in both the historic castle building and the contemporary "Factory" wing. The Pro Work suite, in which you stayed, has a double surface area and is completely modular, allowing you to choose the layout to suit your needs. Several photos are available on Booking.com to avoid any surprises. Your comments about the activities of room service and respect for the peace and quiet of the rooms have attracted our serious attention. Please be assured that each member of the team is working to combine efficiency and discretion, and this point will be reviewed internally. With regard to our restaurant, we warned you in advance that it was fully booked, as we were receiving a group that day. We therefore offered you our room service or, alternatively, restaurants in Chantilly that we could recommend. We hope to have another opportunity to welcome you and to show you the true spirit of hospitality of our house, Jérôme GAUTIER - Reception Manager Château Jeanne & The Forest - Château de Montvillargenne
