How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI loved the location, the terrace was lovely and a great size! The staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean.
The breakfast was quite basic, the air conditioning wasn’t great and it was very hot! It would have been good to have things like shampoo and amenities in the room. The facilities in the room were very basic and quite often the reception was shut so you could not ask anyone for anything that was missing.
Dear Natasha, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that some elements of your stay were not entirely to your satisfaction. We would, however, like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points: • The air conditioning system automatically stops when the terrace door is open, to preserve energy and ensure optimal functioning. • Regarding amenities, we do have Rituals shampoo and soap in the bathroom and there was a boiler in your room as well as tea bags and coffee. • Our breakfast is a traditional French continental offering, with a selection of fresh bread, pastries, homecooked cakes, fruit, cereals, local produced yoghurt, juice and hot drinks as well as charcuterie, local cheese, home smooked salmon … • While we understand your concerns, our team did respond promptly to your requests — including an early check-in at 12:00 (instead of 16:00), extra tea bags in your room, a loan of an umbrella as well as iron and board, and even organizing a last-minute taxi for your group, which we were happy to arrange despite the high season. • Regarding the opening hours of the reception, the reception closes at night which is why nobody was behind the desk at 2am when you came back from the wedding. The reception also closes at 7pm on Sundays but we are still in the hotel for safety reason. As a small hotel, we aim to offer warm, personal service and regret that your impression didn’t fully reflect our efforts. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again for an improved experience. Warm regards, The Hôtel des Augustins Team

Verified reviewWhere to begin . What a fantastic stay we had at this beautiful hotel . Everything from start to finish was perfect . We had an exceptional meal organised by Benedicte and her husband for a large group of us . Everyone made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble . Thank you for making our 18 month old granddaughter feel so at home too ! The terrace at the front is a lovely spot to sit in the sun and the lobby a perfect chilling area in the heat . Drinks were excellent and parking easy . Genuinely the best time spent in this hotel in such a pretty village in France for a nearby family wedding . Fun market every Sunday !
Going home !

Verified reviewThe position of the hotel is perfect for exploring the local area. It is also at the end of the main road with cafes and shops.
I can not think of what I did not like but if I was pushed to mention something I would say the water pressure in the shower was to low .

Verified reviewA charming beautiful hotel with stunning bedrooms that have been excellently designed with everything you need in place! Soft white fluffy towels and an exceptionally comfortable bed. I stayed in deluxe double with a terrace overlooking the quaint village street. Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return
Don’t expect a British breakfast. There is no toast as hotel doesn’t have toaster but if you like croissant and other bread you’ll be ok and the hotel will make you fried or scrambled eggs but breakfast is limited for many. Wouldn’t stop me returning though.

Verified reviewLovely little hotel. The lady on reception/restaurant was delightful and we had a lovely chat with her. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was exceptional, we'd definitely return. The room was very nice with a lovely terrace and a large bathroom. The beds were really comfy (not too hard like many hotels). Located in the centre of Saint Cyprien so easy to walk everywhere. Highly recommend.
The toilet in our ensuite hadn't been cleaned before we arrived but the rest of the bathroom and room was spotless so think this was just an unfortunate oversight.

Verified reviewRoom clean and tidy
There is no main reception staff on most of the time. The bar and interior are in darkness with no lights on. There was no kettle available in the room for tea or coffee. As there was no bar for several days, only available on certain days or times, this facility should be available. Primarily a bed and breakfast
Dear Mrs Malley, Thank you for sharing your experience even if i am very surprised by your feedback. I was available to answer your requests. But of all your stay, i had no feedback from you. Regarding the staff, as explained when you arrived at 1am on Monday night (and in our room directory) the restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday for lunch and dinner but the bar is open for hotel guest every day with a snacking card. On those days, we turn off the light between noon and 3pm in the reception (when the weather is good and the sun shinning). The rest of the time we choose to have a dim light to match with the hotel atmosphere. We are sorry that your experience did not live up to your expectations. Despite your experience, I take in account that you appreciated quality of our rooms. Kind regards, Bénédicte
