How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewDomaine de Bayeux is a lovely boutique hotel with wonderful staff and beautiful decor. It’s a short walk from both the train station and the town centre.
Absolutely nothing to dislike

Verified reviewWe were a party of 4. One couple stayed in the Orchard rooms and the other in the main building. Book the main building if you want character and to feel you're in France. The Orchard rooms are clean and perfectly comfortable but you could be anywhere. No water of coffee making facilities in Orchard rooms, you have to walk up to the main house No iron in the room but available if you ask. Main property is very pretty and location is excellent is excellent. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment.
No water or coffee making in the Orchard rooms.

Verified reviewBeautiful grounds, very close to Bayeux and all the historic WW2 sites. Breakfast was delicious, our room was fantastic, and the staff weren’t just polite, they made you feel super welcome and they were interested in what you were doing.
Only downside WiFi okay, not great

Verified reviewGood location and not far for both the train station and the town centre. The room is very well appointed with a lot of thought into designs and spacious.
Lift (elevator) would be great but manageable to get up or down.

Verified reviewAll was excellent. A simple but very good breakfast. Quiet rooms and area. We stayed in the orchard apartments which are very roomy. We stayed for two weeks and would stay here again. The owner and staff were lovely and very helpful - for example Sundays id difficult to get a restaurant in Bayeaux but they made reservations for us. There is also a place to keep you bikes but it is very limited - but nowhere to plug in e-bikes (not an issue really as you can charge the battery in your room)
Would have liked tea/coffee making equipment in the room rather than having to go to the main house for a cup.

Verified reviewWe had a room in the newear building and it was great, comfortable, new, very quiet and a fantastic king size bed. Great hotel walking distance from the main shopping area. The new extension sits very well in the grounds of the old manor house. The only draw back is that they do not have EV chargers on site. There is a supercharger in the main car park near the hotel. We discovered it ourselves.
NO EV charger on site

Verified reviewWe had a great room in the Orchard building apart from the main hotel. It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, well serviced each day and had plenty of toiletries provided. The hotel is very close to the historic centre of Bayeux and the staff were very helpful for all our questions on restaurants and tours etc. The hotel is situated in beautiful grounds and is very peaceful and calm. We really enjoyed our stay here.
The breakfast could have been better. Service was a bit chaotic and not a great choice. We had breakfast on 2 of our 5 day stay.

Verified reviewA modern hotel in an old mansion, a few minutes walk from the centre of Bayeux and the Tapestry. Location was perfect, comfortable beds, spacious bathroom with twin sinks in the loft and an excellent buffet breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful and gave us recommendations about where to eat, what more can you ask for?
I found the modern decor a little jarring, but that’s probably just me.
Merci beaucoup pour votre commentaire Catherine. We hope to see you again. Kind regards, Celine, Mathieu and the team

Verified reviewThe loaciot was excellent for Bayeux and the tapestry. The staff (Ocean in particular) were excellent and attentive to our needs. The breakfast was very, very good full of tasty local produce. The room was very spacious and clean. Couldn't for more really. An awesome stay!!
They didn't serve a meal in the evening which was a shame as we would definitely eaten there in the lovely location. You can get some food but it wasn't;t a proper meal.
