How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe building is very elegant and rooms are tastefully decorated. Reception staff are very polite and courteous.
The restaurant food is AWFUL - possibly the worst dinner we have ever had. We ordered an appetizer of courgette, two lamb main courses and one veggie cannelloni. The waitress was very condescending and did not accept any preference for the meat cooking (as the chef decides). The courgette arrived after 45 minutes and 2 chases. To our amazement it was a cold appetizer, made of rounds of undercooked courgette in an awful cold white liquid. We ate them only out of desperation as at that point we were seriously hungry. The lamb came severely blue - I like blue meat but I struggled to eat it - it was so raw that it was chewy and hard. The cannelloni were a strange pasta staffed with what I can only describe as pickled vegetable out of the can. We were a group of 4 international mix of French and Italian, well travelled and used to eat in different restaurants around the world - from Michelin star to simple comfort food. The food that we at the de Biar was simply the worst we have ever tasted.

Verified reviewWhilst visiting Montpellier, we stayed at Domaine de Biar for 2 nights. The Domaine looked beautiful on the outside. The receptionist was very friendly.
I do believe a stay at the Hotel is far too expensive for what it offers. The rooms (except for the suits) aren't nice at all. The cleaning wasn't thourough (still cobwebs and dust) and the breakfast was nice but not special. When we left (I had payed upfront) the guy at the reception said that I still had to pay a small amount for the city tax. He had also charged me a forfeit of 40 euros for tips. This was standard he said but if i didn't want it, it could be removed. We paid more than 300 euro a night for a small room. Carrying our bags to the room wasn't offered nor was any other service when we stayed there. In France service is included. If the service had been exceptional the tip wouldn't have bothered me, but the fact that they charged it automatically and one had to ask explicitly to have it removed disgusted me.

Verified reviewA manor home in the countryside that has been beautifully restored, feeling both contemporary and casually elegant. The rooms are well appointed and the pool area is very large and restful. We loved how the property is surrounded by horses in their fields...their gentle grazing added an element of calm throughout our stay. The breakfast is served on the spacious terrace and was both generous and delicious. The one dinner we had in the on site restaurant was exceptional as well. The staff is very welcoming and helpful....merci Anne Claire and Benoit! We hope to return next year!
Everything was perfect!
The whole team, Benoit and I thank you judith for your enthusiastic review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay . We will be happy to welcome you again in Le Domaine and La Table de Biar with the aim of satisfying you !

Verified reviewWow what an experience. Stayed in top suite- Canopee room with views out to fields and Camargue horses. The style and design every last touch in the room merged old with new and throughout the chateau. Incredibly spacious and very comfortable bed. Huge open plan bathroom. Only sounds were the birds. Very intimate atmosphere. Wonderful staff in Alex and Benoit with recommendations of places to eat and things to do. Great breakfast and dinner. Romantic and just v v special.
Minor point but had advised we were arriving on my birthday and was my partners 3 days later. A touch of a bottle or cake in the room would have been nice as an acknowledgement. Usual practice in equivalents properties of this standard.

Verified reviewWe found this lovely hotel while travelling through France, the reason why we choose it was the location in nature. It is very cosy accomodation. Great rooms (we had appartment). The service and stuff were absolutely amazing. Would like to come back again one day to stay longer.
Short stay. The early spring weather didn't allow us to use the pool area, but during summer it must be unique experience. I recommend you to have car to choose this location.
