How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Verified reviewGenerally the location and facilities were good, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Just a few small " disappointments". Room had bath and hand shower only. No wall bracket for shower and no curtain/shower panel. Impossible not to make a small flood. Nit iur problem maybe, but curtain/panel would keep everyone happy. No sockets available in room for portable electric devices, surely a must nowadays. Found one space in adaptor beside fridge but had to crawl around to use it. Soap dispensers not good. One plunge device didn't work and basin soap not easy to use. Breakfast was good quality, but limited choice and therefore maybe overpriced at €20. No obvious gluten free recognition, though that seems to be the norm in france. My wife is coeliac and took her own bread. We didn't comment to staff, so maybe our fault. Small things and once settled in we enjoyed our stay. Maybe we were just unlucky with the room. We did ask for a move to walk in shower room but only suites available at around €120 per night additional! Would go again but would be more careful about booking.

We thank you for your message, however we are quite surprised by your dissatisfaction with the restaurant. We have sent you a message via booking informing you of our way of working, namely a single menu where you taste 3 starters and 3 desserts and a choice of meat or fish dish, and you have accepted. As for access to the spa, it is indeed paying as in many hotel spas and do not understand your term spartan facilities because that is not the case.

Verified reviewThe building and the grounds are very impressive. It is a good place to relax and be close to nature, and yet close enough to towns. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options.
The first room given to us was horrible: small, antiquated and very very hot with only a fan available. We chose this hotel because it had a restaurant but when we checked in we were told it wasn't open on Sundays! Very disappointing.

Verified reviewA beautiful old chateau in a wonderful quiet part of northern France. Staff were excellent. Beautiful areas to sit and enjoy a quiet drink in the morning while watching the sunrise!
The rooms are a bit dated, certainly in the building we were in, which seemed like a converted stable block. But for the money, I really can’t complain. Mattresses were very firm, so sleep was a challenge.

Restaurant was closed. I wouldn't of booked this if I had been told in advance, Spa and Breakfast are extra, we didn't opt for this. Again at time of booking it's not obvious the spa is an additional extra.. The chateau has a lingering smoke smell throughout. The kettle does not work in room 11 unless you put the main light switch on, no note explaining this in the room. Also a strange looking dirty sink directly outside the room with the pipes removed, which was off putting.

Verified reviewThe property is absolutely beautiful. Rooms are nice. The manager was so sweet, she offered us a ride to the other town because we couldn't find a taxi. You can walk to the town by foot, it's 15 minutes walk. I would recommend to rent a car in this area, the public transportation isn't that good.

The price is just not worth the money. There is no airco in the rooms. As the weather was quite hot, we had to sleep with the window open, there was a lot of noise coming out from the building in front and people walking on the cobblestones make lots of noise . Also the bathroom is dated and not functional. They have a massive bar, but seems they are short staffed, so no one around to serve a drink. The hotel staff is also not the friendliest, there may be a language barrier, but lots can be achieved with a smile.
