How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewComfortable bed, dog friendly. There’s free parking in the street. There’s a very good restaurant in the hotel (don’t be put off by the fact that it’s in a hotel - it’s probably the best in town), but closed on Sundays
The floor was quite dirty. Also lots of fluff and dust under the bed. Our little chihuahua went under the bed and got out all dusty. But the bathroom was clean

The worst part when we informed the receptionist was that they knew of course that this room is faulty and the air-conditioning was not working, although they offered it as an available room

Verified reviewBreakfast was good with plenty of choice. Location was fine for the time we were there and what we wanted to achieve although we were disappointed that due to french holidays a lot of the facilities in the town were shut. The meal in the restaurant was delicious and a wonderful experience, good value for money. The bar staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, their service was excellent.
The spa was also shut during our stay and so despite the price for the two nights we were not able to use this. Whist the room was large and comfortable enough it was not altogether clean, tere were cobwebs ob the light fittings and the walls behind the bed looked dirty. There were no tissues provided in the room and limited milk and tea unless we asked for more. I feel for the price of the room those little details were not as good as they could have been.

Easy to reach Reims, Epernay, Ay, Ambonnay, Bouzy, etc. Comfortable enough, clean, cheap, private, decent restaurant Terre de Craie- excellent value for your money compared to different chateau-style-hotels 4 or 5 times more expensive with ambiguously better service, slightly better breakfast food though well under the level of world class...
The smoking could be completely eliminated from the amenities of the site.

The town and surroundings has very few facilities on a sunday, so plan or book your entertainment well in advance. If you do that you will love the weekend away.

Received email a day before arrival to say resturant will be closed even though we booked table in advance. Breakfast was 1 hour late opening. Some guests left without having breakfast that was payed for. Drinks had to be purchased via a ticket system no cash allowed
Thank you for sharing your feedback, although we deeply regret the impression you were left with following your stay with us. It is important to clarify that the exceptional closure of our restaurant on the evening of your arrival was due to our annual Fête de la Musique celebration. An open-air concert, culinary workshops, and a pop-up bar were offered in a festive and friendly atmosphere, with a ticket-based payment system implemented only for that specific evening. Upon your arrival, you expressed your dissatisfaction quite strongly. Despite the event being fully booked (as mentioned in the pre-stay email), our team made every effort to arrange a table for your party of eight. Unfortunately, this table was not honored, and no cancellation was communicated to us, which we found particularly disappointing given the efforts made to accommodate you. We would also like to point out that, as a courtesy, a parking spot was provided free of charge, even though it was not included in your original reservation. As for breakfast, please note that on Sundays it is served from 7:30 a.m., as clearly stated. We respected this schedule as we do every week. No special request was made the day before for an earlier service. Breakfast is not included by default and is only charged to guests who choose to have it. We understand that everyone has their own expectations and sensitivities, but it is sometimes easy to give a poor rating to an establishment despite the efforts made. Conversely, if hoteliers could rate guest behavior, not all reviews would be flattering either — especially when confirmed reservations go unattended, as was the case here.
