How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStylish, friendly staff, clean. Great market on Tuesdays and Saturdays just in front!
The bathrooms and rooms were very small so a little tight for big people

Verified reviewLove the garden and the calm tranquil ambience.
Noisy neighbours that kept me awake for a few hours. Not at all the fault of the owners but if you are noise-sensitive (and I am) this could be an issue. Next time I’ll be better equipped for these issues!

Verified reviewI liked the hotel and the room was nice, as was the bed. Also we were not given the room we had booked, but a room that ended up being cheaper, so that was good!
The hotel is a bit out of the way, which can be good and bad. We found the area to be very not alive. It was hard to find anything to eat nearby, but it takes about 15-20 minutes walking to somewhere decent and towards the city centre, so we managed. We had booked parking space but the parking space was in a nearby underground garage. And because our car was almost too big for the very narrow parking garage, we ended up scratching the side of our car. I wish they would have let us know exactly how narrow and small the garage is, or asked if we would have rather paid to be on the street level. We felt a bit stuck in the situation because we had booked and paid for the parking. Also the walls were paper thin and on our first night some late night guests checked in and had incredibly loud s*x. Good for them, but bad for us. I had specifically chosen the hotel because it mentioned that the rooms were sound-insulated.

Verified reviewWe were only here for one night, but we got to see a lot of downtown Montpellier, as they held our bags and we were allowed to get our car later in the day. Room turned out to be much nicer than what you might expect after looking at the entrance. It has a historical vibe inside the hotel. Hotel is close to the downtown attractions like the cathedral and the botanical garden. There is also an aqueduct that goes down the length of the street that the hotel is on.
Breakfast was rather meager, and the parking garage was a couple of blocks away and strange to get in and out of, as well as a tight exit turn. It was still possible to load and unload in front of the hotel though.

Verified reviewLovely old building. The location - right opposite the viaduct and the fabulous French market twice a week. Friendly staff.
The room was very small for a longish stay. We really needed a kettle in our room to make tea or coffee.

Verified reviewCute property comprising two houses knocked into one, right on Bvd des Arceaux. Lovely shaded and calm garden with a pond which is an optional place to have breakfast.
All facilities you would expect from a three star hotel including a working fridge, but it was missing coffee and tea-making facilities.

Verified reviewWe asked for two cups of hot water because it was not in the room and they brought us a tray with tea kettles, mugs, saucers and spoons! Very chic.
They have a large terrace in the back which is advertised as open 7am-11pm, however when we asked if we could eat our own food, the staff said it wasn’t allowed. I understand that they serve breakfast and light dinner, but I do not agree with this rule that the terrace is only for eating food bought from the hotel. It doesn’t make sense and it seems unfair.

Verified reviewThe pedestrian area is being renovated, but is historic and is at the very beginning of the entrance to the old town at evening time our particular street is not that lively there are a couple of bistros scattered. My guess is once the pedestrian area is completely planted up and renovated. It’ll be very lively and charming. However, the market is three times a week and it is very lively with stalls, of fruit, pastries, bread, fish meats, etc. it’s quite charming. You do have to walk to actually get into the old town, but I like that so that late at night you weren’t hearing the noise of the tourists or the restaurants. We had a car so I like that. We didn’t have to park way far away to get in and out of Montpelier as we went to visit other towns. So for us being right outside the historic center really worked. The hotel if you book ahead has really reasonable priced parking and that makes a big difference. Their breakfast is good pretty standard to what we usually get and you have to book ahead because they don’t do big wasteful buffets but rather have you order what you want ahead which I think is fantastic. There is a very sweet garden outside the little café area in the hotel. This hotel is priced very very well and though the rooms are small, it is a tremendous value. The staff is warm and friendly and eager to accommodate .
My one tiny pet peeve was the hairdryer wasn’t very powerful. It’s a tiny thing in the big picture. There is no elevator which they are very clear about but the hotel is only three stories so it’s not that big of a deal

Verified reviewStaff are very helpful, we were asked several times if we had any problems with parking and informed us we couldn't park on street on Tuesday as there is the local market. Location is great near to centre and they have a beautiful garden where you can have your breakfast. Rooms are clean and functional with a mini bar., rooms are on the small size but that didn't bother us.
We were on the second floor without an elevator, stairs are quite steep so that is to bear in mind if anybody has knee problems!
