Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, it was perfect.
This has to be one of the best places I’ve stayed in over the years. Nigel and Val were the best hosts you could ask for and the amenities were outstanding.

NetherlandsNothing really. There is no bakery at close distance. But a short drive away in Segonzac. The room missed a bath. But we all knew that up front. We would gladly return!
The hosts where friendly and always there when we need them, without compromising on privacy. The gite was specious and well equiped with all necessary amenities. The kids love the grounds and games room.

GuernseyThere wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
Lovely “gite” front door opened onto pool area and back door kitchen/lounge/diner opened up to a very large garden. Well equipped kitchen everything and more that you could need. Clean, comfortable and quiet it was ideal for us - (couple on a mooch in France in September). Nearby town with boulangerie which made gluten free bread on request, supermarket- fish and fruit open air stalls and a great restaurant Gueulton. There was a large family/children play room with pool table, table tennis, table football and darts plus loads of books and board games - great area for children- there were none around so we had soul use!! To top it all hosts Valerie and Nigel were lovely people - very helpful.

United KingdomNothing!
This gite complex is the best place we have ever stayed at (and we aren't in the first flush of youth!). We had the one bedroom gite (Otard), which was very comfortable and unusually spacious for two people, with a spacious bedroom and en suite shower room and a large living/eating area that opened on to the pool area. It was very hot when we were there but the thick stone walls of the gite kept it cool, and using a fan at night provided a perfect sleeping temperature. The whole complex is beautifully maintained and looks attractive from the moment you drive in through the gates. Valerie and Nigel are the perfect hosts - unobtrusive but very friendly and always ready to provide ideas on where to go. Valerie arranged a visit to a nearby barrel making company - it sounds a bit niche but was an absolutely fascinating insight into a local craft - and also gave us some delicious tomatoes from their garden. We were only there for three nights but would have loved to stay longer.

DenmarkWonderful L'Ancienne Distillerie. Our Family had a fantastic week in L'Ancienne Distillerie. The location is perfect - especially if you are looking for peace and quiet! There are 4 Gites surrounded by fields of sundflowers and wineyards. There is lovely garden and privat terraces to each Gite. There is also a lovely pool. The city of Cognac just 12kms away has everything you could require during your stay as well as being well worth a visit and good Restaurant. The hosts Valerie and Nigel was extremly helpful and providede suggestions for trips to local Cognac houses, there are several cognac distilleries in the area.

IrelandTo be honest everything about this property is of a high standard. Valerie and Nigel couldn’t have been more helpful. The property is very central to explore the surrounding area, especially Cognac and Angoulem.
The property is in a rural area, very quiet and scenic. The nearby village is a short car ride away with a v good restaurant. The facilities are excellent and we loved the 1 bedroom apt,so much so we stayed for an extra night!
