How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is amazing! In the middle of farm fields, this oasis rises and welcomes you. Our host, Miriam, was a delight - she offered us breakfast (which we gladly took for 10 euros) with fresh berries, yogurt, breads and pastries, and coffee. She accompanied us to our room, and showed us around the property. When I asked if we could launder our clothes, she showed me to the laundry room, which we could use for free.
Having to lug our bags to the second floor (1er etage) was a drag, but typical for most of our stays in France.

Verified reviewWe stopped off at La Ligne on our journey south from the Caen ferry. It was perfect for our needs. The hosts were helpful and friendly, the room was very comfortable and there was a wonderful separate kitchen available perfect for preparation of light meals. We did not take breakfast but coffee, tea and biscuits was provided. Wonderful. The pretty village of Angles sur L'Anglin gave us a chance to stretch our legs in pleasant surroundings

Verified reviewThis bed and breakfast was delightful, with a very comfortable, tastefully decorated room and a five-star breakfast! Very kind owner and a peaceful setting.
I had a difficult time finding the gite in the dark and in the rain--more lights or indications would have been helpful.

Verified reviewLa Ligne is set in the countryside not far from the lovely town of Angles-sur-Anglin. There are several gites on site but we stayed in one of the two Chambre d’hotes. The good-sized bedroom was up a flight of stairs and we had shared use of the kitchen with the second chambre d’hote. The excellent breakfast was served in this kitchen and we could use the facilities, which included a coffee machine, to make a simple evening meal. The grounds are extensive and one can go for walks in the countryside. The swimming pool is excellent; large, beautifully clean and enclosed. The owners were very pleasant, extremely helpful and spoke good English.
Could have been clearer that it was a shared kitchen.

Verified reviewThere were three of us staying in 2 rooms in the main house so there were two beds, two bathrooms. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. They contained everything we needed for our stay and the hosts were friendly and accommodating. Instructions to reach the property were clear and easy to follow. The hosts met us at the driveway and faves us a tour. Breakfast was amazing and we felt so spoilt! The showers were fabulous with great water pressure and heat!
There wasn’t much to dislike here. The property is maintained by a family who clearly take pride in making their guests comfortable. For a long weekend, this place would be ideal but it is far from anything if you are looking for things to do, that might be a problem.

Verified reviewWe loved the quirky rural/modern decor in our bedroom and the view across the countryside. The breakfast was excellent and our hosts welcoming to their beautiful farmhouse and gites. The pool was beautiful. Sadly our stay was too short and the weather a bit wet when we arrived so we didn't get a chance to visit.

Verified reviewIt was a wonderful old farmhouse that had been restored with additional outbuildings converted to gites. Our room was very comfortable, looking over the fields. The breakfast was fabulous: plentiful and delicious. It was a short drive into the town, or to other towns close by.
The bathroom was a bit poky, and we had some narrow stairs to carry our bags up, but these were minor issues.

Verified reviewAmazing setting, beautiful gites, grounds and pool. Really well equipped. Friendly, helpful hosts. The most stunning village a few mins drive away. The owner let us upgrade from the b&b room (which was lovely) to the 2 bedroom gite, as it was empty. Well worth the extra £ to have such a beautiful property and your own garden. He also kindly let us have breakfast each day which is only normally available in the b&b rooms, for a very reasonable price, as we'd heard it was fantastic (it was!)
Nothing that we didnt like but if we had to change anything, the chairs/sunbeds in gite garden were a little uncomfortable and it would have been amazing if they had air con upstairs, as bedrooms were very warm, but nice and cool downstairs
