How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewWhat a fabulous location! So easy to get to all bars and restaurants and right in the middle of all landmarks. Orleans is a very pretty city and I'd love to go back.
There is no lift and we were on the top floor so dragging suitcases etc was quite a chore! I would have appreciated being told this as I couldn't find this info on the website or my booking info?

Verified reviewThe location is perfect, very close to the cathedral. Although there is no parking with the hotel, there is a public car park under the cathedral at reasonable rates. The building is historic, and has been cleverly modernised and well decorated. We had a very comfortable night, and really appreciated the air conditioning. Breakfast was extremely generous and although it was a serve yourself style, there was a young lady present who was very helpful and friendly. She even offered to carry our luggage downstairs for us, which was much appreciated. As far as we could work out, she was the only member of staff present at any point during our day, and it was nice to see a friendly face.
This is a completely automatic entry hotel, using your phone and QR codes, which could be a problem if you are not confident with this kind of operation. You also need to ensure that you have enough phone battery to get back into the hotel at the end of the day, something which slightly spoilt the end of my evening as I was anxious to get back before my battery ran out, and missed the end of the beautiful light and sound show at the cathedral. We also found it a bit disconcerting that there were no personnel on site when we arrived, it would’ve been good to have at least one person present. And be aware that there is no lift and a long winding staircase. But overall the experience was very positive, and we would certainly go back again.

Verified reviewGreat position right by the Cathedral, very stylish and breakfast was good. Huge bathroom.
This is a tech hotel, you download an app for your keys and simply slide the lock open on your phone. Worked well for getting into the main hotel but didn’t work for getting into the room. Concierge staff (not on premise) were quick to respond and at the second attempt got us into the room and we were pointed towards a key safe in the room. Not a major drama and dealt with relatively easy by the online staff, but those not tech savvy might struggle.

Verified reviewGreat location and great staff. Very happy with the stay here - right in the centre of the old town and close to shops and attractions. The breakfast provided was good and the hotel had all the facilities you could want while you are travelling.
No lift - but you only have to carry your bags up and down once.

Verified reviewExcellent location near the cathedral (lovely to hear the bells ringing) and in the historic old town, yet on a quiet and peaceful courtyard. Nice view of this pretty courtyard from our room on the first floor. The high-tech entry system takes some time to set up on your phone but it worked fine.
Am not sold on the idea of a hotel without staff, it makes it strangely impersonal. There are helpers around at breakfast to bring in fresh food but they keep their heads down and don’t say hello. The standard room we had was boxy and sparsely furnished, just the bed and a small stool to sit on. A comfy armchair would have been nice.

Ideally located but no vehicle access. Park your car under the cathedral and walk the 300m to the hotel that is slightly camouflaged.

Our hotels are deliberately located in the heart of historic centres, just a few steps from the most beautiful sites... and sometimes a little off the main roads to preserve the peace and charm of the area. To make your arrival easier, we generally recommend parking in nearby public car parks, such as the one by the cathedral, and then walking to the hotel in just a few minutes. The entrance may be discreet, but it's also part of the Encore Mieux experience: feeling at home in a unique place, far from the usual standards. Verified reviewCool access mechanism - uses QR codes. Useful early access to (limited) luggage storage. Clean and comfortable room with large bathroom with walk-in shower. Bed comfortable but a bit bouncy. Excellent breakfast.
The text I got with instructions on access didn't mention that 4pm was the earliest entry time - but the online concierge let us in anyway (at about noon).
