Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing springs to mind.
Excellent location in beautiful village. Great views. No catering but a patisserie selling very good croissants and chocolatines is two minutes' walk away and there are tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. The cottage has a basic kitchen but there's easy access to a fully-equipped kitchen in the main house, 30 seconds away.

United KingdomLorena our host was friendly and helpful from the start of booking to the end of our stay. Full of great advice and nothing was too much. The location was magical and we also had the use of the communal areas of the big house and much needed air-conditioning and a covered parking area. There is a lot to do in the area. We cycled and visited Châteaus and caves and recommend the Tapas bar.

CanadaThere is really nothing bad to say about the place. We loved it and hope to return some day.
The house itself is AMAZING! So much history and so well cared for by the owners. It was immaculate - the cleaning person(s) does a great job. The views were stunning and the singing birds in the bushes and trees was lovely.

AustraliaNothing it was perfect.
The location was just amazing and having private parking made our stay perfect. The cottage is very comfortable, with a kitchenette and outdoor sitting area under a big tree. Which in summer was a great place to sit for pre dinner drinks with a magnificant view of the town and castle. We also had use of the main house kitchen, laundry, dining and lounge room. Loren was very helpful and offered a lot of ideas for restaurants and places to see.

The property was magical, just like Beynac.. it was filled with care and special touches that made our stay very enjoyable . You couldn’t get a better location, view was something out of a movie, in fact we kept pinching ourselves to make sure it was real. We would highly recommend La Source and the Dordogne region of France as a whole.

AustraliaThis is not about the property per se, but about the stay generally. Tip: if you come to the Dordogne without a car, book well ahead for taxis.
La Source is an exceptional property. It delivered everything I expected, and more. The kitchen was set for cooking, the lounge was comfortable, my bedroom was an oasis of somewhere to rest, and the terrace view transported me back to the 12th century (just with better plumbing and food!) I left feeling so rested and restored and the house was part of that. I would love to come back.

The entire villa is absolutely stunning as is the town and the entire area. This is a house where you share the common areas but we rarely ran into anyone else. The location is the BEST. I could not image a more beautiful or better place to stay. The kayak trip is a MUST!! Lovely views and clear water for swimming and having a picnic.

CanadaNothing!
Everything was lovely. From meeting the lovely Lorena who gave us a tour of the property and explained everything to the minute we departed everything was perfect. It was very private and quiet. We stayed in the cottage beside the larger building. We did have the use of the kitchen and laundry facilities in the larger building but we did not need them. We had a small kitchen in the cottage which perfectly suited our needs. The fact that there are laundry facilities was very nice. And there is a larger kitchen if you wish to do more cooking. Everything in the cottage was in perfect working order and the layout was very functional. The location next to the castle was wonderful and we were able to walk to restaurants for dinner. The walk up to the castle was challenging at 30C but it was very interesting and you can drive up to the top for parking if you wish. The cottage has a beautiful outdoor patio area where we could have a glass of wine and watch the hot air balloons rising above the valley. It was the most comfortable place that we have stayed on our trip so far. If we are in the area again I would love to stay there .

United KingdomImpossible to dislike anything - we can't wait to return!
Beynac has long been one of our favourite spots to visit in the Dordogne so we were delighted to find this wonderful house with its perfect views - medieval village & stunning castle climbing above, glimpses of the river and valley of the 5 chateaux below us. Our rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and full of character. A very well-equipped kitchen and utility room and a beautiful dining/drawing room (shared with other guests) plus a wonderful terrace and garden complete the extensive facilities. As well as a family suite in the main house, we took the separate 'cottage' in the grounds which was delightful and, again, came with incredible views and its own little garden area. We felt warmly welcomed and looked after by Lorena and Plomb and appreciated their help during our stay. La Source is most definitely on our list of places to visit again as soon as we can.
