How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewExceptional location directly on the lakeside so perfect access for swimming and paddle board (only 15 Euro per hour) with gorgeous mountains opposite. Rooms smart , nit huge but glorious views. You are welcome to use all the facilities before and after check in which is very unusual. Sauna and hot tub, table tennis and table football. V good food at dinner and breakfast. Excellent helpful staff showed us around on arrival. Only 14 rooms and so few people around the garden/ beach.
It is expensive but exceptional.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing, by the lake, very clean water. The communal are was good with good facilities.
The breakfast was awful with very limited terrible choice, scrambled eggs were disgusting. Under the breakfast bar there were some bar stools covered in dust and spider webs. Some staff not very helpful and quite rude. No door in the bathrooms, the rooms are small with mezzanine level bedroom access via metal ladder which didn’t feel very safe. For that price I would expect a bit more luxury stay. Would not stay again in that hotel and wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
Dear Madam, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are truly sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. While we're pleased you appreciated our lakeside location, we regret that your breakfast experience and room layout were disappointing for you. You should have notified the server that you were dissatisfied with the scrambled eggs and so, we could have prepared fried eggs or an omelette for you. Your comments regarding cleanliness and service have been noted and have been addressed with our team to ensure improvements are made. Safety and comfort are essential, and we're sorry you felt unconfortable with the lade. We plan to take advantage of future renovations during winter period to install a more suitable system for climbing up to the mezzanine and also a sliding door to close the bathroom. Your remarks will help us to improve. We’re sorry we didn’t succeed in offering you the experience you desserve and the Petit Létraz team hope to welcome you back in the future. Best regards, Laure - Assistant hotel manager

Verified reviewLocation was great being about 10km from Annecy and situated right on the lake shore with easy access for swimming and lovely views to the mountains on the eastern side of the Lake. There is a lovely grassed area leading down to the lake with ample chairs and loungers. Property is modern and tastefully decorated. Food both at breakfast and dinner was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Our room (6) on the ground floor was on the car park and road side of the hotel . Whilst the road is pretty busy it did not disturb us at night. The patio faces the mountains to the south and hence the room is described as having a mountain view. The room itself was quite small and the desk fitted in to a corner was not very practical. There was a decent shower with good quality Loccitaine products.
Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Regarding we are currently planning some renovations so it helps us to know that the desk location needs to change. Thank you again for the feedback. We wish you a pleasant day. The last time we went 2 years ago, the restaurant was exceptional. This time the menu was dumbed down and not as interesting.

Verified reviewThe hotel was fantastic, the location itself was perfect, only a few miles outside of Annecy, but just enough to avoid the tourist horror show. There are little shops, restaurants and a great Boulangerie all within walking distance of the hotel. The rooms are separate from the restaurant and bar area, or maybe its more of a lounge. The room was fantastic, great bath, comfortable bed and absolutely amazing view out to the lake. A patio door and balcony which opened out with a small table and chairs. The view was wonderful and honestly we could have looked at it for hours. We used the spa facilities which we booked in advance and we also swam in the lake from the little jetty. The space at the back of the hotel has sun loungers and tables set amongst beautiful trees, a perfect place to relax. We ate at the hotel restaurant and the 28 day aged steak and the cocktails were superb. It would be remiss of me not to mention the staff at the hotel, particularly the chap at reception who was helpful, thorough, and attentive, this honestly made the stay feel extra special. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will be returning.
Dear Amanda, Thank you very much for your feedback and for staying with us. We were very happy to welcome you by the lake. Regarding the trees in our garden that you were asking me about at the check-out, these are plane trees. We are looking forward to welcome you again. Verified reviewFabulous lakeside location. Gardens down to the water where I was able to swim. With loungers, seating areas, hot tub and sauna. Good food.
A bit pricey, but not for where it is. And the bedroom very stylish with a balcony looking over the lake, but a little cramped.
Dear Sir, Thank you for your feeback and good rating of your stay. We hope you had a nice time in Troyes and Callais as well on your way back home. Best regards, Thierry Assistant Front Desk Manager

Dear Jamie, Thank you so much for leaving this nice review! We are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us! We understand that you did not like the concept of the bathrooms in the rooms. It is a choice mad eby the architects that does not convince everybody. We hope to welcome you again soon, Best regards, The Clos Marcel Team

Verified reviewModern, stylish(?) hotel. Nice garden space with access to the lake. Not cheap and our room really was quite small, considering the price we paid (although the shower was huge). We ate there on one evening - food was good (not exceptional) and again quite pricey. Breakfast adequate - staff not always on hand when needed.
The "mountain view" turned out to be a view of a hedge and the car-park.
Dear John, Thank you for taking the time to write this nice review about your stay in Duingt! We are sorry that you thought the room was too small. It is indeed our smallest room of 21m², our first priced category as well. As for the food, our products are local and fresh, that explains our rates that are not, as you said, cheap. Regarding the staff and the lack of reactivity, we note your comment and will make sure that it does not happen again. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We hope to welcome you again soon for another stay even better that this time! Wishing you well, Best regards, Hotel Clos Marcel Team

Verified reviewThe location was amazing right on the lake, beautiful views from our room. You had a short walk down the lawn and into the lake for a swim. Very relaxing and tranquil. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The rooms were quite small and the air conditioning was noisy. We didn't have breakfast as it looked very basic for the price.
Dear Ann Marie, Thank you for taking the time to write this nice review! We are glad that you liked the location and calm of our hotel and that have been able to telax during your stay here. We are sorry you found our rooms small and that you did not try our breakfast. Regarding the air conditioning we are sorry that the noise disturbed you, we are going to see what we can do during the winter, as reparation would force us to shut the AC down for a few days (or weeks) and the summer in not a good time to do so. We hope that you will come back another time and enjoy it just as much as this time! Looking forward to welcoming you again, Hotel Clos Marcel Team
