Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandQuiet and cosy studio which has been furnished and decorated with great taste and care. Beautiful paintings, wonderful lighting and lamps, bookshelves with architecture and design books and a well equiped kitchen with freshly grinded coffee provided by the host. Don't miss out to visit La cité radieuse in case you're interested in architecture (book in advance for a guided tour).

A beautiful apartment, in a lovely historic building, very close to the old port. Fully equipped for a stay, comfortable and everything you need. If you a taking a taxi or uber, ask them to take you to Hotel de Ville, and walk up the steps opposite, a couple of doors up. Coming the other way requires the taxi to get permission through.

AustraliaWe loved our stay in Michel’s beautifully decorated studio. The space had such a great atmosphere and was whisper quiet at night. The location in La Panier was perfect for exploring the city. Michel was a fantastic host with perfect communication. He provided some great restaurant suggestions. I would highly recommend Michel’s studio.

Tranquil oasis in the heart of Le Panier area and close to the old port of Marseille . Eclectic collection of art and decor made for a unique atmosphere. Roomy studio apartment with all the basic facilities needed. A pleasure to stay here and unwind.

AustraliaWe loved everything.
The apartment was very beautiful, calm and comfortable. It is also large! The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old, historic Le Panier district and very close to the old port of Marseille, all walking distance. We had excellent communication with Michel and also with Anne-Laure who he entrusted to show us to the apartment.

United StatesAccess to the property by vehicle is restricted by local ordinance - so you must use a series of 33 steps to reach the property OR arrive when the area is open to traffic. Michel, the owner, is a wonderful host and helped us with our arrival and departure.
The main room is very large with a complete kitchenette. The bathroom has a large shower. Attention to details for visitors is amazing. Although compact, the kitchen contains anything you could need. There is a table with seating for 4 but space for 6+. The bed is at least king size and comfortable. The decor is antiques, collectibles, art…. There are even power converters for guests’ electronics. The location is also convenient to many of the historic buildings.

United StatesIt was hot until you turned on the fan because there is no air conditioning. However its not that bad because the fan is very good and it cools you down fast.
The owner is fantastic and lives next door. Very helpful. We didn’t have a working phone because we were visiting from out of the country and he helped us navigate over Whatsapp when we connected to Wifi. The Wifi there was good. The bedroom had a nice fan. The shower head was very nice. It’s located near the pier and a lot of historical sites. It was only a 30 minute walk to the Fancy Cathedral at the top of the hill. The Chateu d’If is near by too on an island. Very secure area. No need to worry at all. Your room is behind 3 locked doors. Two electronic locked doors to get into the clearing where your room is and your room door is massive with an inch thick deadbolt. I have never felt safer in a foreign country.

AustraliaNot so much as a dislike but more a note- the building has an old and amazing history to it but this also means it’s a bit musty, the rug and sheets while very clean need replacing. Saying that the room has every amenity you could ask for and for the location and price it’s fantastic!
The host was incredible, very reliable and super helpful. The location was great and the place has some beautiful history and a unique style to it. We felt comfortable and safe during our stay and would highly recommend Michels place!
