Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomParking in Salat is difficult at anytime so plan to park up the hill and have free parking in the local streets
Location next to the Le Pub in the main part of the Medieval City. Access via Le Pub bar and a separate key code access too. We parked up the hill and carried our bags down to the hotel through the beautiful cobbled streets. We were met by friendly owners at Le Pub bar and had a lovely room with wonderful views over the square and the large church housing the market. It was a perfect location for restaurants and also had a bar with local food available. Breakfast was excellent and consisted of granola, pastries, bread and jams served with coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.

South AfricaNothing, it was a busy, owner run hotel. It suited our style of travelling.
The hotel is in the centre of Sarlat old town. We had a window with a view of the town square. The hotel also has a brassiere, bar and terrace restaurant. Where we had our breakfast. The old town streets are mechanically swept and washed every day. It is a joy to walk the streets. This town is loved, cherished, polished and taken care of like a favourite child.

UkraineVery beautiful, old and atmospheric hotel in a historic building on the central square of Sarlat-la-Canéda. We stayed in a triple room. Our room conveyed the unique atmosphere of the old city, in the same time it was very cozy and equipped with everything you need. Ideal location to feel the spirit of the medieval city, as well as to get to other interesting places in Perigord.

FranceIt didn't bother us, but know that the rooms are above a pub which might be noisy at some moments.
This is a great little hotel right in the centre of the beautiful medieval town, overlooking the historic square. The rooms are tasteful, the beds are comfortable and the views lovely. The spaces are quirky and interesting and you have a perfect location from which to explore the rest of the town.

GermanyIt was a bit hard to find, but if you find the Le Pub on the square, just go in there. We arrived on a Saturday and the roads were closed because of the market, which made it difficult to access the hotel.
Friendly helpful reception, great location, comfortable bed, clean bathroom with bathtub and adjoining toilet. Kettle and cups with tea bags/coffee in the room. Simple French breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, so nicely served. We heard the music at night from the pub below but it was very faint and didn't bother us.

United StatesThe hotel doesn't have a lift, and lots of stairs, so beware having too much luggage! This also applies if you arrive by train and need to get to the hotel, as we weren't ever able to find any car service during our stay. The breakfast was lovely, though because it was open to the square, and not just for Le Lys Dort guests, it was sometimes challenging to get the server's attention for a coffee refill, or any additional items. The breakfast rules aren't very clear, as to how much of any particular item you could have, though I was always able to get a refill on my coffee. It also wasn't clear how to contact the host/manager, or when they would be working on site, but this didn't impact us too much, and when we did meet her in person she was extremely friendly, and spoke good English. We were traveling by train, and had to walk from the train station to the hotel, which was challenging because we had quite a bit of luggage. I don't believe there are taxis - or at least, if there had been, it wouldn't have gotten you to the hotel due to ban of automobiles in the historic center.
The location is outstanding! From the window in the sitting room/spare bedroom, we could see the main square of Vieux Sarlat below. And we could actually see the hammer that rang the bell in the square every half hour & on the hour. That the hotel offered air conditioning, was great, as it was super hot in early July. We were close to fun shopping & browsing locations, and excellent restaurants. Really, the historic center of Sarlat is just so beautiful and fascinating, and Le Lys Dort puts you right in the center of it all. That breakfast included was a nice bonus. On the morning of our departure, our host kindly agreed to give us a lift to the train station, which was greatly appreciated!

FranceLocation was fantastic, right in the center of everything. The only negatives I have was the distance from parking to the accommodation, but this was due to the banishment of cars in the center of town, so pack light. The bed was a little on the firm side for me, but that is just personal choice. The host and staff was were lovely and YES I would stay there again and certainly recommend it to friends and family.

perfect location in downtown. You need to climb for your room. The room is small but fine for couple nights. The bathroom has a glass transperent door directly to the room. Owners have bar downstairs from rooms they are renting. Breakfast was simple traditional french with bakery, yogurt, fresh juice and coffee
