Le Manoir has a huge potential, but needs major investment and renovation now

The Island of Port Cros is wonderful, hotel Le Manoir is a beautiful building in a great location....but it is in desperate need of a major renovation / refurbishment. The room we had (room 10) was clean, but so basic! Is there airco in the room? NO! Is there a little fridge to keep some water cold? NO! Is there WIFI in the room? NO! Coffee or tea facilities? NO! Small safe in the room? NO! Minibar in the room? NO!. Basically, you have a bed... and that's it! Impossible to have a good sleep in +30°C in the room. Same for the bathroom...it was clean but soooo old, and it had a terrible sewage smell. Due to lack of renovation (for a very long time...) there must have been sewage spillages in the walls or floor. We had to keep the door al the time closed to limit the sewage smell coming out of the bathroom. Breakfast is also something very particular. We ordered in the evening breakfast for the next morning... They have beautiful marble tables outside, but they are not covered and even not cleaned (covered with dust/insects). After waiting over 30min...someone came to say that if we want to have breakfast we have to go to the hotel reception to tell exactly what we want?! Finally they brought us a tray with breakfast, but it is basically frozen superstore stuff baked-off. They claim the service is "discrete", well it is! It took us over 15 min to find someone to serve us a 2nd coffee for our breakfast. Since there is no airco in the building, they keep everything open resulting in plenty of flies everywhere inside. In the evening the dead flies cover the staircases and floors. One evening when we came back we even saw a rat strolling in the reception area. If the owners will not invest now and make a complete renovation it will be a matter of time before this "manoir" will end up in urban explorer's abandoned places....

The menu at the restaurant could use some variation when you stay longer.

Very attentive and friendly staff. They respect your privacy and are always available when needed. The Hotel, the restaurant and the facilities are ideal to relax and enjoy yourself.

Fellow guests leaving towels/belongings on swimming pool loungers for many hours when they were clearly not using them. Pool unsupervised so not monitored by staff so hotel probably not aware.

superb food, lovely surroundings, quiet and very attentive staff
