Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RussiaAlthough we had the description how to get to the property, we still found it a bit tricky and were doubting if we were in the right place
This was not just accommodation; it was a complete immersion into the history and charm of the Loire Valley. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality of the hosts was exceptional. Antoine, in particular, was a fantastic host. His English is excellent, which made communication effortless, and he was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and a true pleasure to talk to. He made us feel so welcome and went out of his way to ensure our stay was perfect. His help was invaluable—he kindly assisted us with booking restaurants for dinner, securing tables at wonderful local places we would have otherwise missed The chateau itself is breathtaking. It is like a living museum, meticulously preserved and decorated in a genuine 19th-century style. The attention to detail is remarkable—every piece of furniture, every painting, and every tapestry feels like part of the story. Our room was the double bedroom with two en-suite bathrooms, which was spacious and had all the modern amenities we could need, seamlessly blended with the historic character. Each morning began with a very pleasant, homemade breakfast The garden is a paradise, bursting with color and a stunning variety of plants. It was the perfect place for a peaceful stroll each morning and evening.

United KingdomNothing at all.
Antoine is the perfect host. The house and garden are magnificent. Genuine, tasteful period furnishing with lots of interesting stuff to see. Spacious and comfortable, including beds. All the things that should be modern are, and work very well - bathrooms, aircon, electricals, wifi, locks/security. Breakfast on the sunny terrace was excellent. Secure parking for the car. Plums and apples in the garden. Lovely local walk. Good nearby restaurant (Hotel du Pont).

RomaniaBeautiful, magical place, cared for with much love by Antoine and Marie. It is so peaceful it almost seems out of this world - or at least out of this time. The room we stayed in was very confortabile and looked fabulous. The house is very tastefully decorated and well maintained - everything is perfectly clean and in perfect condition, with all modern comfort, despite the historical appearance. The garden is vast and absolutely amazing. Antoine and Marie are very lovely people. Antoine warmly welcomed us and generously shared his stories and wisdom with us during breakfast. He recommended us to visit Chaumont, one of the lesser known castles, and this proved to be the one we enjoyed the most (beautiful castle, beautiful gardens, modern artwork). There is nothing I would change about le Prieure d'Orchaise. I would very much love to stay here again.

United StatesFrom the moment we arrived at Le Prieuré d'Orchaise, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, Antoine and his lovely wife Marie. The chateau itself is stunning — a beautifully restored historical building with tastefully decorated interiors that preserve the spirit of the place Our room was very comfortable and had an incredible view of the vast, landscaped gardens. The gardens are spectacular and open to guests — peaceful, lush, and lovingly maintained. Every tree was tagged with its name. Our children absolutely loved the property, the chicken and the dog, and enjoyed fruits from the orchard. Breakfasts were a highlight: fresh croissants and pastries, cheese, delicious coffee and tea, and all kinds of homemade jams from berries/fruits grown right on the property! Upon leaving, we were in a difficult situation arriving to our next hotel and late for checking it. The owner spoke only French and Antoine saved our night by calling him and letting him know of our late arrival! We only stayed three nights, but wish we had more time to enjoy this magical tranquil place. It is highly recommended for anyone seeking a cozy, historical, and welcoming retreat in the Loire Valley.

TaiwanAntoine upgraded our room to the Empire, which was the most classic and beautiful room we stayed during our trip in France, we really liked it. There is an unique garden worth visiting and enjoying, with various plant species. We have wonderful conversations with Antoine and Anne Marie during the breakfast, and the dinner restaurants he recommended were very nice. We enjoyed everything here very much. We came here as guests and said goodbye like old friends. We didn’t want to leave. They are elegant, kind and hospitable. We hope we can come back here and stay with them soon.

BelgiumNothing to dislike.
This is an exceptional find, made all the better by the kind, generous, and very interesting hosts. Breakfast was a delight as all guests and the hosts sat at one table and exchanged stories. When we departed it was like leaving friends. The hotel has a very large garden, ideal for an evening stroll or sitting in the cool shade. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts, they even made a vegan dinner for us on the first evening as most restaurants close-by were closed on that day. An excellent place to relax, yet only a 15min drive from the delightful city of Blois.

This property is wonderful! Clean, comfortable and filled with history! The owner is fabulous! He helped book our dinner reservations, coordinated food allergies with the local restaurants for us (we did not speak French!), helped to take a family member who came down with a cold to the pharmacy for medicine and shared tons of wonderful stories! You cannot go wrong with booking your stay at this property! Our only regret is that we could not stay longer!! So allocate an extra day or two!

United StatesThe Prieuré d"Orchaise is fantastic! Our room was very well appointed, no squeaky floors, super comfortable bed and very quiet. The garden is spectacular and as guests we were able to visit. The breakfast was delicious and included homemade jams, cake and fresh eggs from the chickens who live onsite. By far the best part of our stay were the hosts. Antoine and Anne Marie are welcoming and delightful conversational companions. We will plan future visits to France to include a stop at La Prieuré!

The host Antoine and his wife prepared a special dinner for us, including a home-baked cake with 12 berries, to celebrate my son's 12th birthday. We had interesting and full conversations.
