How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was much, much, better than expected. The hosts were wonderful, we arrived a little early, because the traffic was less and no unforeseen traffic jams. No problem! The room was easy to access. A really sunny and hot weekend, but the room was cool, with full blackout blinds and insect nets. Well done. Comfy beds. Quiet. The hosts welcomed us warmly and arranged reservations in the local cafe (amazing cheese and wine evening - twice a year - 5 mins walk) for us. Our hosts were: Honest. True. Correct. There was even fresh bed linen on the beds and clean towels in the bathroom (the WHOLE OF DENMARK are you listening? YES! The rest of the world provides linen and towels without you having to drive 160km to collect bed linen, and 160km to deposit it, and 16€ per person to do so - unlike Novasol-Denmark). WiFi = fast with excellent coverage, no outages: 525Mbps download, 392Mbps upload. Accommodation = Very cozy. Very clean. Proper job. Double plus wow. Totally recommended, could stay for 2+ weeks. We will be back (but it'll probably be fully booked, because this accommodation is that good). Breakfast was substantial, tasty, set us up well for the day. Thank you.
Nothing. Everything was better than expected. This accommodation is (ssshhh, don't tell anyone, this accommodation is that good!) awesomely perfect! Because, Novasol - (Denmark) - has not been involved... in any way, or any other way, or in another way that you were not expecting. Fortunately here you deal with the real owners directly, and the owners are wonderful! And helpful. And not AI, nor a dullard obese blob of an indifferent corporation = Thus these owners are human and lovely! This is a perfect holiday location. Avoid Danish Novasol. Instead, visit France! The French are friendly hosts and provide bed linen and hand towels. Unlike Danish Novasol. Imagine a restaurant that does not provide plates with meals, or bowls with soup, or glasses with wine?! This imagination is a perverse reality in Novasol's Denmark a Bed & Breakfast = no bed linen, no towels = because ^shrug^ that's how we do things with Novasol in Denmark. Whereas... France is wonderful! The French (akin to the rest of the world) provide a bed with linen. What a novel concept, a bed you can sleep in! A bathroom with towels! Danish Novasol is evil; with evil cherries on top; sprinkled with a garnish of evil hatred. Enough said. This accommodation is not Novasol. Thus this accommodation is good. Moreover, this accommodation is better than good. Head for Ray-sur-Saône (unless Novasol is in the Ray-sur-Saône, in which case... AVOID NOVASOL - Novasol resulted in making my mum cry on her 77th birthday. If you are hard of thinking, then in a nutshell - this place is awesome. Book it now. Wonderful owners. Excellent location. And (above all) NOT Novasol. AND furthermore (because the French are not dimwitted unlike the Novasol-Danes) then the beds have bed linen! OMG! Welcome to the 21st century!
Thank you very much for all your compliments, which made me very happy. I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Le Tilleul! We look forward to seeing you again!

Verified reviewThe host was friendly, very welcoming and had organised food to be brought in for us because the local restaurant was going to be closed. Communal areas were large enough that we could still have our own privacy. Communal kitchenette was more than adequate. Swimming pool was very refreshing on such a hot day. Our room was beautiful.
There was nothing we didn't like.
I would like to thank you for leaving us such a kind comment following your stay at Le Tilleul. We are very pleased that you had a pleasant time with us. Very happy to have welcomed you!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a comment after your stay at Le Tilleul. Thank you also for your indulgence regarding my level of English, which is far from perfect but which allows me to understand my English-speaking guests!

Verified reviewStéphanie was a wonderful host who went over and above to make our stay as pleasant and easy as possible. We had cycled through a rainy day and she washed and dried our damp clothes. She suggested and made dinner reservations at the local restaurant which was perfect. The room and shower were impeccable and breakfast was delicious.
What a joy to read your comment! Thank you for your kindness! All I did was try to make your stay as pleasant as possible after that horrible day of rain, and I think I succeeded, which makes me very happy. Have a nice trip!

Verified reviewWe arrived quite late, like 2 hours after the check-in timeframe but it was no problem. We had a very warm welcome by Stephanie. She had even prepared two baby beds for our children. The breakfast was perfect.
The location is a bit remote, but it was perfect for us on the way back to home after a vacation on the southern coast of France.
