Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainOur room was a bit dusty. Maybe not used as much as the others, since we had requested one on the ground floor without stairs. Towels were small and tattered.
The staff are very helpful and the restaurant is superb value. The area is exceptionally quiet.

United StatesNothing really.
The room was spacious and quiet, breakfast was good, and Pierre was a very gracious and helpful host. The dinner on the terrace was outstanding---both the quality of the food and the ambience. My only regret was that I was not traveling with my wife--she would have loved the whole experience! Also, great location: a few kms south of Alesia and its memories of Caesar and Vercingetorix (this was pure serendipity!) and a short ride from the Abbaye de Fontenay.

United KingdomThere were no tea making facilities in the bedroom but easily available in the reception area.
It’s certainly off the beaten track but accessible in lovely rolling hills countryside and a bit quirky, which we like. Basically, it is a number of ancient, sympathetically restored cottages in a rural French village in Burgundy. The two staff, we met were Paul and Pierre, both of whom spoke good English and nothing was too much trouble. Dinner was table de jour with five courses and pleasantly served in the restaurant, a short walk away from the cottages. All in all, it was a delightful comfortable experience.

United KingdomPre-arrival communication was great - advance email re dinner booking; manager called me day before arrival to confirm arrangements. Receptionist explained everything well to us on arrival and helped us to find everything that we needed - very helpful as Le Verger Sous Les Vignes is unusual and full of character. The table d'hote set dinner was tasty and served in a dining room with a fine view. Breakfast was pleasant. We arrived in the evening and left the next morning. This would make a good base for a longer stay. You won't be short of things to read.

United KingdomNothing! It was great
We booked this just as a stop off between south of France and getting back to Calais. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! Lovely room with a double on the ground floor and a twin above, with access to a shared communal kitchen if you want to self cater and a table to sit at with your wine, enjoying an amazing view. As we only had one night, we didn’t use the kitchen and went along to the attached restaurant. And how pleased we were that we did! There is no menu - everyone has whichever 5 courses the team is cooking that day. It was delicious and the kids ate it all too. The wine was also amazing, and only cost 10 euros a bottle! And all the staff - who I think are part of the same family? - were so kind, welcomed our kids into the area set up with books and toys at the back of the restaurant, and were happy to chat to us using their excellent English. (Our French is embarrassingly limited)

United KingdomThere was nothing we did not like about breakfast except for me I struggled with the coffee teas etc, they were in a dark area and not understanding the French way of teas and coffees. That was my lack of knowledge rather than what was offered.
What a treat - Each table was laid out with the corresponding number of people staying. Table for two, one, three or four. Each table had a different layout of lovely matching china. Absolutely gorgeous. Breakfast was an excellent selection plenty of it and of good quality. The room was brilliant roomy and nice to see all the books and I have plenty of room to do some work. We were booked in for dinner - what a treat an interesting walk to dinner, a lovely setting over looking the countryside. Dinner was the same for everyone, simple cuisine but very tasty.

United KingdomService. Paul was excellent, welcome and greeted us on arrival. Offered umbrellas during storm, escorted us and our distressed daughter out the storm and into the restaurant. When there was no croissants left for breakfast he baked us fresh ones. Paul really enhanced our stay here. Our waitress for dinner was exceptional. Overall all the staff were beyond amazing. Our room was spacious and split in two halves which was convenient with our two dogs.
