How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPlease understand that I am trying to be fair here, but while this hotel was clean and tidy, we've stayed in more inviting places in France. Booking in felt as if we were being lectured. Three breakfast choices were offered, and we selected the middle one, drink and a croissant for €6, but the Proprietor was careful to stress the "one drink" aspect, Next morning, our croissants were stale, clearly left over from the previous day, and I was watched closely while I poured my single coffee, The same on the next two days, with "one drink" stressed each time, but fortunately, the croissants were better. Our room design made very poor use of the available space, which resulted in the two of us constantly having to reverse and squeeze past each other, an unnecessary inconvenience, though not too much of a problem after 30 years together. The best aspect of our stay were the excellent seafood restaurants in La Turballe, but our hotel was a minor disappointment, though admittedly for relatively trivial reasons.
The Proprietor's general manner, I'm sure he didn't mean it that way, but it was if we were being addressed as schoolchildren.
Sir, we ll answer you point by point because you ve clearly forgotten some things. Indeed, there s always the client s version and the service provider s. We ll also be fair in our version of events. Regarding the reception, you should know that we always adapt to our client s behavior when they come to us! This is called the mirror effect. We reflect the image we receive! Sympathy begets sympathy, disdain begets disdain, etc. Indeed, you didn t smile at all...you seemed to have come more for a funeral than for a vacation... We like clients who come to us with a smile and a zest for life. Regarding our breakfasts: we only offer 2 options, not 3. An EXPRESS at €6 for small eaters in the morning (1 cup of hot drink, 1 glass of fruit juice and 1 croissant) and a COMPLETE with an all-you-can-eat buffet for €11. You opted for the express. It was clearly a matter of saving money. This would not have been a problem in itself if you had not granted yourself, from the first day, the right to go and pour yourself a coffee several times. The next day we reminded you of the composition of our EXPRESS breakfast but you continued to go and pour yourself several times. We therefore thought it appropriate, on the 3rd day, to give you a stricter reminder, like at school in fact, because you were behaving like a child! It is terribly unpleasant to see customers like you who cheat and who do not respect anything. Needless to say, our margin on the EXPRESS breakfast was negative with you. Regarding the remark about the croissants, you clearly had to find something to criticize us for! You should know that they come EVERY MORNING from our artisanal bakery in La Turballe. Regarding the room, you chose and booked a SMALL STANDARD DOUBLE ROOM. It was indeed the smallest in the hotel, but also the least expensive, and it was undoubtedly this last point that influenced your choice. Its size is clearly stated on the Booking.com website. Obviously, price is more important to you than anything else, but unfortunately, as they say in France, you can t have your cake and eat it too! One last thing, know that your opinion is far from insignificant, but it is not at all objective!

Verified reviewPerfect location for visiting La Turballe and walking across the road to the beach! Parking facilities at the back of the hotel was really convenient. The hotel is nicely decorated and offers all that you need.
The room was very small for a family of 3. There are no lifts so it’s a daily climb up the stairs but it kept us fit! We paid for breakfast on one morning and felt that it could offer more.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review following your stay at the Hôtel Les Chants d'Ailes. We take great pleasure in reading your satisfaction with the location, setting, decoration and services of our establishment. Regarding your remark about the small size of the room, we would like to point out that the surface area of 17.80m² is mentioned in the description of the room. The information that we do not have an elevator and that we have 2 floors is also specified in the description of the hotel. Our breakfast is not included in the price of the room, it is an additional charge. This information is also indicated. Thank you for your understanding. Kind regards.

Verified reviewComfy, breakfast lack of local products except bread. Beachfront.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review following your stay at the Hôtel Les Chants d'Ailes. It is true that our breads (Bagatelles, cereals and wholemeal) + our croissants as well as our brioches come from the Delestre bakery in La Turballe. We would also like to point out that our fresh organic eggs come from the Ferme du Bois de Boulle in La Turballe and our fruit and plain yogurts are local farm products from Saint Michel Chef Chef (44) or Herbignac (44). Kind regards.
