How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe setting is incredible. The main house is stunning and the building with the other bedrooms where we stayed is very tastefully done. The gardens are beautiful and the pool too. Plenty of grounds to walk around, tennis court too, though we didn’t have time for that.
There is nothing not to like, certainly not that we found
A huge thank you for your complimentary review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the setting, the charm of the house and rooms, as well as the gardens and pool. It was a real pleasure to welcome you, and we are particularly touched by your words. Having guests like you makes our work even more valuable. We look forward to welcoming you again, perhaps this time to enjoy the tennis court and walks on the estate! See you soon, Thi Thuy

Verified reviewThe hotel is set in a stunning location allowing its excellent facilities (pool, tennis court, snooker room, table tennis, free bikes to ride) to be used in a tranquil setting - surrounded by countryside. The location is also great for a visit to Chambord, although we did not go. The hotel has been recently renovated, meaning the rooms and facilities were perfect and all very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and with air con in the room slept very well. The food was very good. We enjoyed a solid breakfast, some free afternoon snacks and juices, and an evening meal at the hotel restaurant.
Evening restaurant was a little slow to produce the food (which was delicious) - this was no real problem for us and I think likely as a result of the hotel being new and some things still finding their feet.

Verified reviewBreakfast on the Chateau patio, relaxing by the pool, taking a hike and playing pingpong in the woods right on the property.
We should have been informed that there was a $15 charge when we reserved an electric parking space for our car. Also, we asked two different people if there would be the possiblity to sit indoors in airconditiong when we resererved the barbeque dinner and they both said yes. As it turned out, all the seating was outdoors. It turned out to be fine as we had a lovely table and had reserved late enough so that the heat wasnt't too bad, but staff should be better informed.

Being told at check-in the restaurant was closed for the day (no communication by email and no food optiins offered voluntarily). Upon insisting, staff offered a cheese and charcuterie tray but we chose the 1 1/2 hour roundtrip drive to Blois to eat a hot pizza. Sad thing was the kitchen personnel didn't seem to care. This is a chateau stay: when you are physically isolated this far in the woods, communicate unusual closings by email prior to arrival (we had an advance booking and no - nothing was communicated about this). Otherwise super clean, but lighting so bright it was like a surgical exam room! Yet no bedside lamp for a softer option and to use the bathroom.
Hello, We fully understand your surprise that the restaurant was exceptionally closed on Sunday evening. However, I would like to clarify that we always inform our guests well in advance to avoid any dissatisfaction. For your stay, you booked on the same day (the day of arrival), we were dedicated to an event at noon with more than 110 people. You booked online at 11 a.m. and arrived at 3 p.m., so we did not have time to inform you about the restaurant closure. However, we offered you a light meal for the evening (charcuterie and/or cheese platter with dessert) to be enjoyed at the château, but you refused. You preferred to choose another restaurant, not the one we usually recommend, which is only 10 minutes from our hotel, but you also refused that. We hope that despite this, you will keep good memories of our estate. Best regards, Thi Thuy Director

Verified reviewAbsolutely beautiful place. Fancy, yet you don’t feel like a bull in a china shop if you’re a bit casual (as we were…). The food is superb! Either at the restaurant or the breakfast buffet. Great wine recommendation With our dinner The staff was responsive and welcoming! The room was big enough (we’ve asked for a crib and we still had plenty of space) and it is nicely decorated.
The room was a bit warm during the night. We should have opened the window.

Verified reviewThe setting was a gorgeous small chateau with a lovely view of the ponds in a forest setting. We heard a cuckoo as well as many birdsong. The evening light was very nice and the misty morning ethereal. The rooms were well appointed with quirky art - appealing to the historic setting but also some modernism. The restaurant used local products and was excellent. We were on a long journey stop over and it would be worth spending more time there.
It was a new hotel and somethings were still being constructed but there was no noise, but I have no doubt by the time you read this review it will be fixed.. The waymarked walks are still at the early stages.
Hello, thank you for this lovely feedback. We look forward to welcoming you for a longer stay at Les Hayes in Sologne. Best regards, Chloé

Restaurant facilities are still a bit limited and will struggle with a full house
Hello, thank you very much for your positive feedback about our establishment. Since the restaurant only opened in March, your comments help us make the final adjustments. Chloé

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at Les Hayes. It’s a newly renovated, beautiful chateau with all the modern necessities mixed with cozy charm. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully designed, with nice attention to detail. Staff was very welcoming. We enjoyed touring the property and appreciated how close it was to the different castles and biking trails we were in the region to experience. We hope to be back!
