Lovely pool area and good breakfast

We upgraded the room but it was still very small and tired - in need of modernising. There was also a very musty, damp smell when we arrived.

The location is very convenient, the pool is lovely

There is no spa or possibility to book treatment unliked advertised which was one of the main reason I had chosen to stay here. During my stay, I began experiencing numerous insect bites, which were later confirmed by a pharmacist as bedbug bites. When I informed the hotel, I was met with a surprisingly defensive and accusatory response from the manager. Rather than acknowledging the issue or showing concern, he suggested that I had brought the infestation myself! Based solely on the fact that previous guests hadn’t reported any problems. This line of reasoning shows a lack of understanding of how bedbug exposure and symptoms work. It was inappropriate and agressive response, especially as I had to sanitise all my belongings and leave a day early! This was my first time ever leaving a review, and I had no intention of writing one until I was met with such poor handling of a legitimate issue. I understand that hospitality businesses can face these kinds of challenges, but it’s how they respond that makes the difference. Unfortunately, the response here lacked professionalism.

    Property response:

Dear miss, what a pleasure it is to be able to speak with you again. But let s respond to your oh-so-intelligent comment in order. The hotel does indeed have a spa, but it s only accessible by reservation: you didn t make any. You stayed three nights (out of the four originally booked) and never complained of a single bite until the third afternoon, the only bites being on your calf. When you mentioned the possibility of bedbug bites (the village pharmacist having told you it could be this insect or many others), I explained that this possibility seemed impossible to me for the following reasons: - No trace of blood on your sheets - The spots were only present on your calf (and that morning you had been doing yoga exercises in the grass, barefoot, wearing leggings that ended below your knee) and nowhere else on your body - The room had been occupied the previous six nights by the same couple who had not received any bites Contrary to what you mentioned, all hotel staff are trained to recognize the slightest trace of this insect, which could be brought in any guest s luggage. The bites leave traces of blood the size of a pinhead on the sheets, and these are systematically checked before being sent to the cleaning company. For your information, bed bug-proof mattress protectors exist. After explaining everything to you point by point, your stubbornness in wanting to be right remained unchanged. You asked to change rooms: as we were full, that was impossible. I then offered to shorten your stay, which you accepted, much to our relief.

Nice hotel at walking distance from Roussillon city centre. Pool area is very nicely located in the forest with relaxing loungers. You can order a small selection of wine and soft drinks at the reception. Small fridge in the rooms and free parking. Nice breakfast and reasonably priced. Roussillon is a very nice town in a beautiful area, would come back!

Rooms are small and a bit dated. Beds are really hard and gave me a back pain. Hotel does not serve lunch nor dinner. We had a room with a tiny terrace on the backside, a bit overpriced for what it was.

A lovely hotel with a tranquil pool area, friendly staff, clean rooms (with recently renovated bathrooms) and a fantastic French breakfast. The location is only a short walk from the center of Roussillon, and the hotel has a large private parking lot, which is super convenient if you’re traveling by car.

The rooms lack amenities such as coffee machines or kettles, but are otherwise very nice.

Location and the pool, and the calmness.

Place is nice, rooms as well, but place is fairly overpriced for what you get.

The location to downtown Rousillon is a very reasonable walk. Breakfast was very good. Bathroom/shower was fantastic. Collectively our favorite part of the room and hotel.

Basic accommodations. Can't say it felt like home or overly welcoming, but it got the job done of having somewhere to stay. Staff were not excited to help beyond the most basic of needs. Coffee/tea not provided in room, and only available if purchasing the entire breakfast (which was great but we wanted something else that was local the second morning). Strict food policies and unable to eat external food in common areas (or inside your room - only if you have a room with an outdoor terrace). Was an odd detail that took an alright stay and made it not a place we'd come back to or overly recommend.

    Property response:

I m surprised by your comments. You came as two couples for two nights, and on the first morning, only one had breakfast. The second arrived with a coffee and two sandwiches from the village bakery: and when you sat down on the shared terrace to eat them, no one said anything to you. Yes, we ask our guests not to eat in the rooms: it s a matter of hygiene, a term you may not be familiar with. But since your room has a terrace, what was the problem? Multiple shared terraces are also available, so what was the problem? To finish responding to your unpleasant comments, the bar is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., so it s perfectly possible to order tea or coffee without having to have breakfast. Since stupidity and bad faith have no place in this establishment, we are happy to read that you will not return.

    Peaceful surroundings and pool.

Would have loved to had a coffee machine in room as we did not have breakfast included in our room price and the town is a ten minute walk uphill.

Les Sables d'Ocre offers an excellent location in the lovely village of Roussillon. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet and some with terraces or patios. The pool and outside grounds are lovely. The breakfast buffet is great, and you can eat on an outside terrace. There is a bar that serves drinks in the afternoon. There is no restaurant for lunch or dinner, but it is a short walk to the village center with many wonderful restaurants. There is ample parking. The staff is friendly, helpful, and professional.

Hotel nicely furnished Nice sun loungers Comfortable bed Limited breakfast choice for €16 a day per person Free parking on site

Very small room Towels not changed daily so had wet towels for the duration No pool towels available Is around 10 minutes walk into town Difficult to find staff and when we did they were unfriendly

    Property response:

Dear Madam, as indicated in each bathroom, towels are changed as soon as you put them on the floor. If you leave them hanging, don't be surprised if you don't get new ones. As for pool towels, we lend them free of charge: you just have to ask. You mention hostile staff: I hope no one bit you. But you're right, it's so much easier to vent after you've left than to come back and ask for an explanation.

The hotel was clean and the pool area was nice. Ideal for a short stay to visit the area.

The price was too high for the quality of the hotel and the size of the rooms. The reception area and bar area had limited hours.

Decent location, friendly staff, so nice to have a pool. Very clean.

Breakfast was just OK, not a single fruit. Air conditioning worked, but not that cold.

Very good location, very close to Roussillon btw foot. The hotel is in the nature, in a very peaceful and calm environment

The staff was very ironic and a bit passive-aggressive. I cannot find good words to describe it but defined lacking hospitality

    Property response:

Irony is the only possible response to the stupidity you have displayed.
