Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United KingdomThe basic air conditioning - this apartment is south facing and has modern windows so gets VERY VERY hot. Despite the protestations of the owner on another review it is not clear (certainly not on the review we read on booking.com) that the air conditioning consists of 2 free standing units and one air cooler (which is not air con). The free standing units need venting outside and the extension wires were inadequate (and despite a promise that we would get one on our first day nothing arrived). One point to note is the WhatsApp based responsiveness was excellent in terms of time but this one action we requested was not carried out . Now it may well be the case that building regs don’t allow quiet built in air con units but it would be nice to know ahead of time as our days and nights were accompanied by the roaring noise (80-90 decibels I would guess) of air conditioning units which need external ventilation and in addition we had to resort to using towels to stop the mosquitoes from the ‘garden’ getting in as no proper external ventilation unit has been bought nor has the ‘garden’ been maintained. The other major issue is the main bedroom has mould next to its en suite bathroom and smells. This could be a hazard and needs looking at. In the main the apartment was clean although as there were 3 of us we could cherry pick from some of the pillows as a few had marks and hadn’t been washed properly. I have just reread the old reviews and unfortunately for us the only comment on air conditioning appeared last week as just being aware of this would have changed our perception and made us reconsider our original booking. I also note the owner seems to have catty responses to many criticisms. I think they should just focus on renovating this apartment and advertise it properly. If they want to service by WhatsApp that’s their prerogative but they should deliver on promises.

United Arab EmiratesThe apartment was not as described. They claimed there was air conditioning, but it was just a portable unit blowing hot air. The apartment was stuffy and uncomfortable, especially in the hot Paris weather. It is not worth the price at all, and parking should have been included but we were charged extra for it. I do not recommend it.
