Our host , David, was delightful and charming The old Manor was beautiful in its character and simplicity, especially the stone colimacon. The view was stunning especially to the chateau raising out of the early morning mist in the sunshine. The breakfast was excellent. Superb. Rob & Kate

The uniqueness of the beautiful Manoir. Exceptionally decorated with old pictures and furnishings. Amazing to climb the spiral staircase in the tower to the room. So very special and with modern facilities. Very personal with the owner very friendly.

A delightful trip back into the past of elegant decor and furniture. This is a magnificent restoration of an historic property, and David is an informative (and English-speaking) host.

We stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon, and now we wish we should’ve stayed here longer! The room was spacious and love the fact that we get to stay in an 15th century property. The walks around the manoir is also great, especially when the dog can be off the lead to have a run around. David also kindly showed us the way to the river, where we fed some carrots to the horses. We also really like the fact that you get to have breakfast around the table with other guests. Overall, everything was perfect for us and our dog, and David was an amazing host!

    Property response:

It was a real pleasure hosting a newly married couple. Friendly, respectful, curious, and open to dialogue, I thoroughly enjoyed hosting them.

It's still just as quirky as our last visit.

Such a shame the owner (mad Freddie) is no longer on this earth.

This was a different and most enjoyable overnight experience. We were guests in David's home, quite literally. He told us about the history of the manor and his family's labour of love to restore it, showed us around the buildings, arranged a restaurant for our evening meal, and gave us good advice about a lovely day trip including Carrouge, Sees, Fresnay, St Suzanne and St. Ceneri. Nice room, comfortable bed and nice breakfast with home-made rhubarb jam!

This is not your typical overnight stop in a standard hotel. If you're looking for a "front desk and receptionist", then this is maybe not for you. But if you want to feel like a valued guest at a historic manor with period features being lovingly restored, your luck is in! We will remember our stay fondly.

A good place to stop on our return journey to Caen.

Sadly Frederick has passed away and David his son is the owner and was absent. His housekeeper Murielle let us in and returned to do breakfast but we were left alone overnight with no access to the main building.

This person flaunts a private life he has no idea about. He criticized the Manor without even trying to understand its history and restoration process, and yes, the photos correspond to what was reserved. What he is asking is more or less 250 euros a night stand.

We found this place while looking for accommodation during the Le Mans race. It’s about an hour from the circuit. The rooms are very interesting, and the area is full of beautiful French countryside. You can see a castle from the yard, and even feed the horses that walk around freely. David is a very caring and friendly host – he greeted us every morning with breakfast and even left us a bottle of champagne after the race. If you want to experience the true spirit of the countryside, you’ll love this place!

Superb property and fantastic location in a quiet village on the outskirts of Alencon. A wonderful building with a great history which the owner, David, explained. Located within a Natura 2000 site on the banks of a river with incredible views across the valley. The rooms are quirky with a mix of old and new decor. The bathroom facilities were modern and the bed was very comfortable. I was the only guest that night due an event being held outside but I was not disturbed. David was very helpful in suggesting places to visit in the surrounding area and further afield (I was travelling down to the south of France). Normally I wouldn't stay in B&B type accommodation but I would make an exception and stay here again. Definitely recommend!

There was nothing I didn't like but just to say it's a 17th century(?) manor house and has been under renovation for many years so it's not 5-star accommodation. However, don't let that put you off. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the grounds are pleasant and the setting is fantastic.
