Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. I'd find it hard to identify anything I didn't like. I have now stayed here several times, going and coming, and am SO glad to have found such a refreshing place to spend a night on the way down into France or homeward bound for England. But if I were looking for a few days' quiet relaxation in its own right, this would be a very good place to choose.
Warm, friendly welcome, lovely dinner and very good and generous breakfast, including a hot waffle produced while I was happily eating other things. Very peaceful surroundings, pleasant garden for an evening stroll, safe parking right beside my room. At many chambres d'hotes, you have to venture out to look for your evening meal when you are tired of driving and just want to relax - but here there is excellent cooking on the premises and the evening is that much more enjoyable.

Light through curtains at night would benefit from blackout curtains at the front of the accommodation. Noisy tiled floors with wheeled suitcases meant we felt like we were waking other guests leaving early. Otherwise an excellent place to stay for the ferry or chunnel.

We had to move rooms during our stay, which was not a problem, but space in 2nd room (cupboards, drawers, etc.) for belongings was minimal, & lighting was dim.
Friendly welcome, quiet, spacious room with fridge & coffee making facilities. Also good food in restaurant at very reasonable prices. Dogs very well catered for, with lovely grounds. Direct access to garden from our French window was a real plus.

Lovely peaceful location, friendly owners. Comfortable room with great facilities. We could use the kitchen to make our supper, as the restaurant was closed the night we ere there. Truly excellent offer at breakfast.

The location is very practical for the Eurotunnel. Now stayed there three times, always friendly, helpful and great for dogs, also a large one like mine.

Shower was no very powerful and no coffee making facilities.
Breakfast and dinner in adjoining restaurant were excellent. Room was large and bed comfy. Friendly hostess. Very dog friendly and ample parking, both free.

Excellent overnight stay on our trip down to south of Spain. Rural location but not too far from Calais. Very nice room with fridge, tea coffee making facilities. Excellent restaurant on site. Host was very attentive ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay. Great breakfast too! Dog friendly with no additional charges.

The accommodation is well equipped and the staff are very welcoming. It's very close to the tunnel/ferry and the on-site restaurant is excellent. Breakfast was also first class we will definitely return.

Our 3rd stay. Comfortable and convenient. Restaurant is closed on Mondays but we were able to use the chambres d’hote kitchen to make ourselves a meal. Breakfast excellent- love the freshly made gauffres and home made jams
