How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBreakfast was good, served In a beautiful room. Yogurt, bread, fruit, juice and coffee, a typical French breakfast. Served very nicely. Love the old 'manor look'. The manor, originally built in the 15 century, is about 15 min from Bayeux, a good central location for touring Normandy. The Moat house has some very beautiful antique pieces. The kitchen looked fully equipped, although I only used the coffee pot. The owner was very kind and helpful, and she spoke English. I felt very safe out in the country. When I asked questions prior to arriving, I got a quick, email response.
The description is not accurate. I rented the Moat house. It is very large and can sleep up to 12. There were only 4 in my party. It is stated that it is all one one level. It is not. There are at least 10 steps to the 4 bedrooms upstairs. One on the bedrooms has 3 step-down to the bathroom. Not a good thing to do at night for 80 year olds! The heat was not on and it was in the 50's at night and the lower 60's in the day. The house needs a complete scrubbing and some paint. Even the antiques needed to be cleaned and oiled. It does have 3 full bathrooms, and a 1/2 bath, but they were probably put in about 1980. They could use updating. They say they offer toiletries. We had hand soap and dish soap in the kitchen. No shampoo, conditioner or lotion. The towels were clean and folded on the bed but nothing matched. This is not a big negative but just one more negative. I realize that this is a very old facility and not easy to maintain, but a through cleaning would help. And the price was a little higher than I thought it should be after seeing the property.

Verified reviewExcellent location and setting, plenty of space and loved the private garden for the children to play in. House was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Alix, the host, was welcoming and showed us around. She was available throughout the stay for any help/advice.
We had an infestation of flying ants in one of the bedrooms (we are talking thousands and they found their way out the room and into other rooms on 1st floor) The host was quick to come over and spray Raid in the room/vacuum the dead flies up. However, the room was then unusable so one of our party had to sleep on sofa. The host couldn't see a problem for us, as we were a group of 10 and there were still 10 sleeping places, if we were prepared to have young children sharing with adults etc. We were then told the room would be fumigated the next day but this didn't appear to have happened as we had the same issue on the 2nd night. The Host wanted us to use the Raid again and suggested there was nothing to be done as it was the weather. We requested a room in the hotel for the family member who had been displaced to the sofa and she obliged. Such a shame as the accommodation was great on the whole. However, the situation with the bugs was not well handled and the host just couldn't grasp that when on holiday, you don't want to spend 2 hours+ picking up dead flies. Also, the description of the property on booking.com is inaccurate. There are lots of stairs (booking.com says the accommodation is on one floor) and the number of beds/configuration is also wrong. This wasn't an issue for our group but worth bearing in mind if you are looking for a specific set up or step free accommodation.
Hello, yes we did have an issue with flying ants. New. And happened twice. Yes it was fumigated the next day. Bit they came back from outside again. And we offered you a bedroom in the main house manor for free. Sorry for those flying ants but countryside can make unexpected surprises. Regards. Alix

Verified reviewFabulous old Normandy Manor House beautifully furnished in a country house style with many antiques. Endearingly old fashioned in some ways. Fantastic breakfast attentively served. Lovely sitting room and huge grounds . Lovely rural views . Very Quiet. Very nice hostess. Comfortable bed in very spacious bedroom .
A welcome drink on arrival would have been nice .The sitting room was lovely but it would be nice to have a drink there - perhaps an honesty bar or coffee machine. Not told how to contact anyone if we needed anything - lightbulb went one evening- no one around. Some might find it rather shabby in places … bathroom tiling needed regrouting and some chairs needed reupholstering for instance. Nuisance to have to drive into Bayeux for food …didn’t seem to be anywhere nearby to eat.

Verified reviewA beautiful old manoir, well conserved very close to most attractions in the area. As a family we have two room with a shared bathroom that was very convenient. Breakfast is good. Being an small hotel is also a plus, not many people around. I will come back if I can. Owner is very friendly.
Bathrooms need renovation. Stairs could not be for everyone. Not a problem for us. A swimming pool would be a plus, the property has enough space to build it in a separate location without impacting in the main house atmosphere.
