Charming Guesthouse with a Wonderful Host Near Mont-Saint-Michel

During our trip through France, this was the only place we stayed that wasn’t a traditional hotel but a charming guesthouse. We chose it because, from the photos, it radiated the kind of character and charm that makes one want to holiday in this region. We also wanted to experience what it might feel like to actually live here — and we were not disappointed. We were very lucky with our host, Anita, a wonderfully kind, intelligent, and well-traveled lady originally from Pontorson. She spoiled us with so many thoughtful touches: a special breakfast, homemade cakes, freshly prepared apple sauce from apples she had just picked, and even a delicious tea she had brought back from Japan. She also gave us excellent advice on the area, and unlike many French people, she speaks perfect English (as well as other languages, including Japanese), which made our stay even more enjoyable. We spent time chatting, enjoying the beautiful garden, playing table tennis, and simply relaxing — it was a perfect base for exploring nearby highlights such as Mont-Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo, and Dol-de-Bretagne. On our departure, she even handed us a bag of freshly baked muffins for the road and helped guide us on our way to Paris. I can wholeheartedly recommend this quiet and beautiful little house. Anita has decorated it with many unique objects from Japan, creating a fascinating interior — which explains why the house is so aptly named O Jardin Sakura.

Lovely house with history and really nice and charming hostess. The homemade breakfast was delicious! You feel at home. What a pity we stay only one day

The owner Anita is such a helpful and lovely person. I would totally book the apartment again for at least two nights. Also her food and her company was great.

    Nothing

The hotel is an old refurbished dormitory, preserving some original components (floors, stairs, doors). The house is extremely clean and tidy, the rooms are spatious. Anita is a really special host, really kind and nice to talk to, and superb in cuisine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and have no complaints. The service was simply amazing - the friendly owner was extremely helpful when it came to providing dinner after we arrived far too late, and breakfast was delicious as well. The rooms were clean, very nicely designed, and had comfortable beds. It also had very good wifi, even though it was located in a wonderfully small and quiet town. Finally, the location was also ideal - positioned perfectly between Mont Saint-Michel and the fortified city of Saint-Malo. We recommend staying here very much!

The location right by a really large noisy street so we couldn’t sleep with open windows. The host offers dinner for guests - beware that it is quite expensive for a vegetarian menu that isn’t French, nor highlighting local specialties/ingredients. The only thing that was local was the cider she served. A simple breakfast is included.

Property was clean and the rooms were spacious. The host was helpful with figuring out local activities and itineraries.
