    I’m giving it 10/10 stars, only because I can’t give it 20/10

Not negatives per se, just things to be aware of. As mentioned above, the bathrooms--the shower and toilet aren’t located in the same room—are separate from the bedroom; however, I think this could be a plus if you’re traveling in a group. You could all be housed on the same floor and share one bathroom which I think could be a plus. I found the kitchen appliances rather complicated to work. I felt guilty having to disturb my hosts in the evening when I wanted to make myself something to eat. So, it might be good to have some instructions for the stove and microwave. Something else to keep in mind, more on the town and not the bed and breakfast, there’s not really much public transport in town, meaning you’ll either have to walk, drive your own car, or catch a ride with someone. Luckily, my research colleagues were kind enough to drive me to and from, and my hosts—once again, probably the most considerate people I’ve ever met—were willing to drive as well. If you do bring a car, I think they provide parking as well. I know they offer bikes; and if it weren’t for the hills, my research luggage, and the fact that I’m not the best biker, I would’ve taken them up on that offer. If I’d had more free time, that could have been an opportunity to bike and do some sight-seeing.

This is the second bed and breakfast I’ve been to in France and I had a wonderful experience. The hosts are extremely helpful and considerate. I had chosen this location because it was near the station and the area where I was doing research. The hosts gladly drove me back to the station when it was time to leave—and would have been willing to pick me up at the station the day I arrived. It’s only about 20 minutes on foot, but with the gravel sidewalks, bridges, and heavy suitcases, I wish I could’ve taken them up on that offer. They even helped me with shopping for groceries and work related items and with food prep during the week. The house is located off the main road but I found it rather quiet. The outdoor spaces—garden and seating areas—were lovely. The weather wasn’t the best, otherwise I would’ve been outside more. The bathroom was located outside of the bedroom, but my hosts—probably the most considerate people I’ve ever met—blocked off the booking for the other rooms in that area so I had the floor to myself. The breakfast was light but plentiful, complete with homemade jams. (Try the fig jam!) I’m going to have to come back to Laumes-Alesia to finish work and I already know where I’ll be staying!
