How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWhat a gem! James and Matthew are wonderful hosts! James welcomed us with a big smile and even though we arrived later than we had said, it wasn't a problem. We had not made a reservation for dinner but were graciously accommodated and enjoyed drinks by the pool beforehand. A big shout out for Matthew's incredible food - the confit duck and macarons and ice cream were absolutely delicious! We also had a fantastic breakfast - including Matthew's homemade waffles which are outrageous! The location is really lovely and peaceful in a wonderful rural location. The rooms are very comfortable with private terraces and there is a beautiful pool. They really have taken great care and attention to detail to make your stay very special. They are making further improvements, so I imagine a future visit - which we would love to make - will exceed expectations even further.
thank you for your kind words, we look forwards to your return. Wishing you both a happy holiday. Best, James and Matthew.

Verified reviewJames and Matthews are such nice, Australian persons (who do speak French as well) that we regret that we only stayed two days at their nice little hotel, which is well located to visit some of the Loire castles. Matthews is a great cook and breakfast and dinner next to the pool were really good (we had Irish beef and salmon, both very good). We also liked the heated pool. The rooms are not so large but large enough. It is also very practical that the 4 rooms have a doors which give you access to either the courtyard or the swimming pool area. We will come back !!!
As everything was so good and exceeded our expectations, it is difficult to find any points for improvements. Maybe the choice of wines could have been a bit larger and include other than only local red and white wines. On the other hand, we liked the wines they had and which we maybe wouldn't have tried if, some of the known wines would have been available.
Thank you for your kind words and we certainly look forward to welcoming you both back again. Our wine list is designed to celebrate our region and accompany the food of my restaurant. The Loire Valley is a wonderful wine region and we celebrate it by offering over 15 varieties of red, rose, brut and white wines ensuring both sweet and dry options. Each of our wineries are carefully selected and no more than 20 minutes from our bed and breakfast so that our guests can visit these vineyards for tastings during their stay with us. The Loire Valley / Touraine wines are wonderful and varied so there is no need to offer Bordeaux cote du Rhône etc. it’s best these wines are explored by guests on their visit to there regions. Along with our 15+ wines we also offer a cocktail menu with over 20 specially designed and classic cocktails. This is more than plentiful for our 8 person, 4 room bed and breakfast.

Verified reviewAll the glowing reviews about Sans Souci Bed and Breakfast are absolutely true – and we’re happy to confirm every word. James and Matthew are not just fantastic hosts; they have the rare gift of making guests feel truly welcome. Their warm hearts are, quite honestly, bigger than any château in the Loire Valley. The charming countryside house is quietly located in Luzillé, perfectly situated for visits to the most beautiful castles in the region. Cheverny, Chenonceau, Le Clos Lucé, Château Gaillard, and Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire – all easily accessible without stress. The rose festival in Chédigny was another highlight. The house itself has been renovated with great taste and attention to detail – elegant, well-maintained, and full of character. The view is stunning, the garden lovely, and dining by the pool or inside by the fireplace is equally delightful. Breakfast is a feast: generous, fresh, lovingly prepared – and every morning holds a new pièce de résistance to enjoy. Matthew’s cooking in the evening is also outstanding. And please: Have the macaron for dessert ONCE. You'll see why. There are also good restaurants nearby – La Charbonnade in Bléré serves great pizza (no-frills, but be sure to book), and we loved Le Parvis in Amboise for open-fire grilled dishes. Our room by the pool (La reine Margot) was beautifully appointed, perfectly equipped, and very comfortable. We slept wonderfully – and looked forward to a dip in the pool and an apéro every afternoon. For people with electric cars: there are plenty of charging points. Among other things, there is a Fastcharger from iecharge.io outside Bléré, in the middle of the fields (simply pay by card). No petrol station can match that :-). Conclusion: This B&B reflects the excellence of two hospitality and culinary professionals, paired with genuine warmth. Nothing is missing – and what remains is the feeling of having spent five truly special days in just the right place.
There is absolutely nothing that could even come close to ‘not pleasing’.
Thank you both for your kind review. This is truely one of the most beautiful reviews we have ever received. We are both happy to read you enjoyed your holiday. Thank you again, James and Matthew.

Verified reviewA great experience ! James and Matthew have succeeded in combining professionalism and kindness, attention to their hosts. We were in one of the 4(or 5?) rooms where everything was perfect and cosy. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious and generous: Matthew is a great chef 👌 James is always anticipating the slighest wishes of his host, with efficiency but always with discretion. To sum up: a pleasant break in idyllic surroundings and conditions (not forgetting the heated swimming pool!)

Verified reviewQuiet location, good food
Dinner too early: 18-19:00, departure same: 10:00
Dear Sir, Our à la carte dinner is served without interruption 7 nights a week. Seating is possible from 18h until 19h, this generally has James and I finishing our evening serving dinner to all our guests around 22h each night. As a bed and breakfast we also wake every morning without interruption 7 days per week at 6h to prepare and serve breakfast. Therefore we work from 6h until 22h every day of the week without break. This is something most (clearly not all) of our guests respect and understand. We sir work a 16 hour day. Serving the dinner any later simply elongates our work day further putting our health at risk. Checkout time is a standard time of 10h this is to allow our work to continue with the cleaning of the guest rooms. Allowing a 16h checkin. We cook, we clean, we serve breakfast, we serve dinner as well as afternoon cocktails by the pool without break or rest for 16 hours, 7 days a week. This is done with great joy and passion by James and myself as is seen in our 7 years of fantastic reviews about or food, service and kindness. To criticise us is quite disrespectful and the rude comments you said to us upon your arrival in regards to the dinner time was not appreciated. You checked in late and were kindly served a late dinner without any problem at all from us. The negativity only came from you. With over 1000 amazing reviews across multiple platforms we are very content with the service we offer our guests. Regards James and Matthew
