Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe room had a few minor deficiencies: 1. A kettle was provided, but only two small paper cups. However, staff were happy to provide 2 teacups on request. 2. One of the bedside lights had a faulty bulb. Staff were happy to provide a replacement, but we then discovered that the lamp was not plugged-in.....and the only available socket was by the door. The shade on the lamp also appeared to be loose/broken. 3. The wash stand in the bathroom is showing signs of severe water damage.
The staff, food, and location were all excellent. The room was very pleasant and spacious. Saintes itself is a great place to visit.

United KingdomThe local dustmen clearly relish in getting their revenge on sleeping tourists with the racket they make in the early hours of the morning. Nothing new about this — they do the same in Spain!
A comfortable inexpensive hotel with a good in-house restaurant. Added bonus was the ability to park over night.safely outside in the abbey car park.

FranceNo immediately recognisable arrivals area. The very tiny reception is in a corridor just through restaurant and was unstaffed. We had to ask an otherwise occupied waiter to book us in. 1970s styled room decoration was all in rich browns which made the attic room seem unnecessarily dark. Unfortunately the additional Velux - which would have cast some extra light was stuck shut/blind immoveable. No complimentary shower gel or shampoo provided. Liquid soap for basin sufficed. Don't bother with the expensive hotel breakfast. Early opening Boulangerie/Patisserie opposite had the locals sitting outside while we sat eating a very unexciting apportioned continental breakfast including a somewhat tired fruit salad. Despite our very pleasant surroundings and good service by the friendly and efficient Irish/French waitress we felt more than disappointed by the quality, particularly after such a wonderful meal the night before. Next time, yes we'll stay again, it's the boulangerie for us.
The hotel is in the Logis group - often hotels with an individual atmosphere and a very good restaurant. This hotel was no exception with personally styled decoration and an exceptional restaurant with friendly and efficient staff that served us a truly memorable evening meal on their attractive ground floor terrace. Michelin mention very well deserved. Booking essential. Our 1970s styled attic room (10) was spacious, the bed generously sized & comfortable with extra pillows available. Everything was clean and well ordered. Side lights, table fan & separate room heater provided. No aircon but fan was fine. Bedding choices was a bonus - a generous double sheet or duvet made up on bed. It was a very hot night so sheet was perfect. Good hot shower (head clips to a magnetic strip) in simple but efficient compartment. 2 x hand & bath towels, bath mat and hair dryer provided. The hotel is next to the grounds of L’abbaye aux Dames (well worth a wander through). Parking next to the Abbaye. Not too far from main through routes.

CanadaThe room was cozy and had everything we needed in a great walkable location. The owner, also the chef of the fabulous onsite restaurant -Michelin star in the making. We enjoyed an amazing meal with a lovely bottle of wine all for 100 EU.

United KingdomThe receptionist when we arrived was difficult to understand due to her manner of speaking, not her language. Also we found her unhelpful and, worse, unwelcoming. The room was OK, but the bathroom difficult and certainly not worth the price.
The position near the old town centre would be good for those wishing to visit the Abbey and adjacent interesting buildings. However, finding one's way there by car was exceptionally difficult. The morning staff were very pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomGiven the standard of the restaurant we had expected to havesomething a bit more special for breakfast although I guess that reflects the reasonable price of the rooms.
Simple rooms, full of character rooms above a lovely restaurant. Would recommend a night or two here. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive.

JerseyThere was no reception we had to walk through a crowded restaurant into a dingy corridor to check in. The staff were not well presented. The ‘attic’ room we were given was dark and had small windows not at all inviting. When we complained we were given the key to another room which was already occupied. We were then shown to a third room which was just as dreary. We were led to believe there was private parking available which was not the case. As we had valuable bikes and personal items in our car we were not happy to leave it in a public car park some distance from the hotel. We decided to go to another hotel.
There was a really helpful member of staff who sorted out another hotel for us as we were not at all keen to stay at the Saveurs de l’Abbaye.
