How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Check in process very poor - disorganised and time consuming. Check in time of 4pm and check out time of 10am is crazy. Had to do all of the cleaning before leaving, strip beds, empty bins, do dishes, I have never encountered this on booking before, only on Airbnb. No hand soap, dish soap, shower gel or shampoo provided. Shower was very slow to drain, maximum a few minutes before it would spill into bathroom and there was never enough hot water for two people to shower. Cigarette butts on the balcony from previous guests. Too warm at night to have the windows closed but the noise from the square below was very loud. Every night from 1-3am there were lots of people in the square. No AC.

First, check-in time is clearly stated as 16:00 on your Booking.com reservation, and yet you arrived at 12:30, repeatedly messaging and insisting to access the apartment early. Despite being in the middle of a busy season — where we work extremely hard to clean and prepare everything on time — we managed to have your unit ready by 15:00, a full hour earlier than the official check-in time. We even have time-stamped photos to confirm this. Throughout your arrival, we were in constant communication and did our best to accommodate your requests — which we believe reflects a high level of responsiveness and service. Regarding the check-out process: we simply send a friendly reminder to leave the apartment in a respectful and hygienic condition, such as removing trash, doing the dishes, and stripping the beds. These are basic acts of courtesy, especially toward the cleaning staff — and not unique to Airbnb, but common practice in many short-term rentals. As for the amenities: hand soap, shower gel, toilet paper, and basic cleaning products were indeed provided, as they are for every guest. If anything was missing, a simple message would have allowed us to resolve it immediately — but we received no such request during your stay. About the bathroom drainage and water heater: these were not reported during your stay either, which would have given us the opportunity to address the issue on the spot. We encourage open communication while guests are on-site, not only after departure. Finally, the building is located in the center of Chamonix, a vibrant alpine town — especially in high season. While there is no air conditioning (something clearly stated in the listing), we understand that external noise and heat can vary depending on each guest’s sensitivity. We remain committed to offering a clean, well-located, and fairly-priced accommodation — and we always appreciate constructive feedback when it is accurate and respectful.

Alot of thought and effort has been put into the decor and renovation. Was so nice to have our own cooking facilities and a washing machine too!

Verified reviewThis is a compact studio unit with a double bed. It's located on the 3rd floor and there's an elevator. The building is located right opposite the Aiguille Du Midi station and about 5-10 mins walk to the heart of Chamonix. The unit is well equipped and has just about everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was medium firm and suited me. The wifi was also reasonably fast. At night it was quiet and peaceful. I also liked that it had a balcony with views towards Mont Blanc and Aiguille Du Midi. You collect the keys from a security box outside the building and the manager will send you the code before you check in. I enjoyed my stay here.
Unlike most places where the wi-fi id and password are printed or displayed somewhere, here you need to click the 'i' button on the router box in order to get the info. There was also no shampoo or bath gel provided in the shower; there was a bottle of hand wash by the sink though. They should also put a tray in the shower cubicle so that there is a place to put your soap/shampoo etc. But overall these are small niggles for me.

We don't believe it's too complicated — just a quick tap! 😊 As for the bathroom: shower gel is always provided, and while there's no tray, placing it on the floor is a simple solution for a short stay — not ideal, but certainly manageable. It had a lift which was 🙏🏼 It was very clean and tidy, it just felt a bit hostelly. it’s a fab location so if they did it up a bit I’ve no doubt they could be charging much more. Good value for money, Chamonix in general I’d just craft over priced. very helpful host!
There was no lounge so you had to sit at the table or be on the bed. Toilet paper was terrible so we bought our own.
