Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was only one en suite shower, the second only had a bath with hand held shower. If you don’t speak French, checking in can be difficult.
The location was excellent. Lovely private garden and very quiet. Just a short walk to the beach, good restaurants and nice town.

United KingdomThe property is very dated. There is a big damp issue, especially in the kitchen. We did open all windows and doors to let the air in and get rid of the musky smell but perhaps the owner should do it more frequently.
Location was really good. Kitchen equipped with everything you may possibly need if you want to use the facilities. Nice to have your own little gated garden, especially that we had a dog with us.

United StatesA little dated, but the location and value more than make up for it.
Location. Don't judge a book by its cover. When we first pulled up , I thought I had made a mistake. It is a period building, so don't be too hasty and make other arrangements. Super friendly staff, great communication, well equipped apartment, that literally sits across the street from the beach. If you are a WWII buff, one of the Brit landings took place straight across the street on D-Day. It sits at the far right of Sword beach.

United KingdomThere was parking outside, but as it is public parking, it was a hit or a miss if you got a space close. There were two more carparks within 100 metres tho.
Loved the apartment. Very big comfy bed, the access to the beach was 30 steps away. The views, the sunsets.

IrelandJust a quarter roll of toilet paper left in the bathroom and no soap for toilet room (however, there was one on the sink in the shower room). No washing up liquid was left and dishwasher, I think, didn't work. Just small things, but a little annoying to have to buy toilet paper on first day and to need to buy liquid detergent for just the few dishes used. Also, duvets were not used (a blanket covered by a bedspread) but sheets and pillow cases were lovely, clean and crisp; the bed spread though did not appear fresh (I understand that to wash this after each use would be difficult) so I think a duvet cover would be more preferable (even if it doesn't match the curtains). Still a lovely stay!
Beautiful location, highly convenient and beach across the road. This is a great spot for exploring the Normandy beaches, but the town itself of Luc sur Mer is worth visiting as a seaside town. The host was lovely and waited for our arrival (we were later than expected) and she was very forgiving of that. Thank you! The apartment is lovely and quaint and the kitchen, though small, is perfect for short stays. Great shower and the bedroom is lovely, large and sits right on the street - I loved that!

FranceNo one to greet us, owner very difficult to get through to on the phone. There was no one to help with our luggage despite the owner saying someone would be available to help us when we arrived. When initially booking the accommodation there was no mention of this being in an attic or up three flights of stairs until after booking and paying. I sent a couple of messages to the owner to say my husband was 89 and would struggle to use the stairs but got no response. Kitchen bin not empty, no headboards, very flat pillows, shower curtain stained & dirty chopping board in kitchen. Booking was for 2 nights but we only stayed 1 night and then booked into another hotel thereby occurring additional costs.
