How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Checking in could be easier but this maybe because we arrived late due to our transfer being delayed

We provide an online document with photos and detailed access instructions, as well as a video guide to help guests navigate the process. The instructions for the property and surrounding area were only provided in French and they know we are English speaking visitors . I had to message the host several times for instructions to get into the property and where to store our skiing equipment because we couldn’t take them into our room. There was no knife to use for food prep. No tumble dryer as advertised, limited toilet paper for a week, linen was not included in the price, no extra garbage bags, very dusty and not up to my cleaning standards.

Regarding the absence of a clothes dryer, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused; this was an oversight on our part. Rest assured, I will personally ensure that a kitchen knife is made available for our guests' convenience. As for the toilet paper, we provide two rolls per bathroom as a courtesy. Being a self-catering accommodation and not a hotel, we do not supply toilet paper for the entire stay. The usage of such personal items varies greatly, and for a nominal fee, guests are expected to procure what they need beyond the initial provision. I understand that the two garbage bags provided may not have been sufficient, and I appreciate this feedback. Please know that our cleaning standards are of the highest level, performed by professional cleaners. If your expectations align more closely with daily maid service, unlimited toiletries, and laundry services, perhaps a full-service hotel in Chamonix might better meet your needs, at a price reflective of such amenities. Did not know about extra fees until Booking Confirmation email was received: 100 Euros for cleaning, 20 Euros per person for Linen. Also 500 Euro Security Deposit required but hidden by previous adverts on Booking.com booking pages. All extra fees required significantly in advance of arrival and in order to get joining instructions. Difficult to find apartment building - no building number (282) shown on building.

Our cancellation policy allows free cancellation up to one week before arrival, and payments are scheduled between 6 days and 24 hours prior to arrival, never before the cancellation period. Therefore, I am unclear about your comment regarding early payment. The security deposit is a standard practice in the region, especially for private properties, to cover any potential accidental damages. This is a common requirement here in Chamonix, which, as you noted, is not a low-cost vacation destination. Our properties are well-maintained, as is the case with this recently renovated apartment. It is possible that in less expensive ski resorts, such policies might not be in place. Regarding the building number, it is indeed marked clearly at the entrance. Nothing serious but just a few improvements perhaps. this appartement was built for giants ! The shower is fixed too high and I m not small. Same for the towel hooks and the oven. Could have done with a hair dryer. They seemed to have had a flood and the floor boards were bit wobbly. Didn't expect to have to strip the beds before check out.
