Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRooms are adequate but quite cramped. I went and looked at the pool twice but it was absolutely heaving with folk each time and not with hotel guests so must have a lot of local members

FranceHotel is very dated inside. Bedrooms have no character and, with the exception of the extremely comfortable large bed, give the impression of being as cheaply kitted out as possible. Horrible industrial carpet which squeaks as you walk on it, no charging points, NO WORKING WIFI in the rooms (or anywhere else to speak of) and given that the internet reception is limited on the island at the best of times, this was very annoying. The bathrooms are not good - a half bath with very limited access (terribly dangerous for an elderly person or anyone with just slightly limited mobility) and an old-fashioned overhead shower with mediocre pressure and poor temperature regulation. Paper cups in the bathroom (??!!) and those awful thin towels that barely cover you as well as a tiny hair dryer that is simply a waste of time. The lingerie pack (robe , towel, sandals etc) for the spa was good but the means of collecting it and returning it were a bit ridiculous. Finally, despite the positive aspects of the hotel (of which there are plenty), the hotel lacks atmosphere. And it really needs a refurbishment.
Excellent location with very easy access (bike/walking) to both Ars-en-Ré and the beach. Very clean, bright hotel with extremely comfortable large beds. Cycle hire facility is excellent and efficient. Thermal spa facilities are good with very good sauna and steam room. Great parking right in front of the hotel. Pleasant staff who speak good English.

United KingdomThe shower didn't provide sufficient screen, so lot of water ran out onto bathroom floor which had to be mopped up. Showerhead repositioned for subsequent time but also meant we were very concious of where water was going. Window quite small, would have liked more of a view over garden.
Reception staff very professional and welcoming. We arrived at 10.30am and asked if we could leave car in carpark so that we could get out on our bikes. We were told we could check in as room already available, so we were able to just go and enjoy our day. Good selection for buffet breakfast. Really enjoyed use of Spa facilities. Room very clean.

United KingdomAt first sight this place seemed shabby and dated on the outside and could have done with a lick of paint and an update. This did not ruin our holiday or enjoyment of the location. The only downside was trying to book any treatments at the Spa, firstly nothing written in English and very few of the Spa staff were able to explain anything adequately. By chance spoke to the new manager who was aware of the various 'non international' shortcomings and he has a full 'to do list' to rectify these and other issues. Like many hospitality venues staffing is a problem.
Great Location Fabulous staff in all areas. Breakfast was delicious and the choices were plentiful. Dinner was great too. Awesome walks and restaurants nearby, catering to all tastes and wallets. There is plenty to see and do on Il De Re. The Marche in Flotte, well worth a trip as is the close by Abbey.

United KingdomFor the style and cost of the hotel the "welcome tray" in the room was a little lacking! It was disappointing to be offered only a buffet meal one evening which was mostly cold food and the only hot dishes were very poor. It was also disappointing that alcoholic drinks could not be purchased until 7 pm.
The breakfast was good. The room with a terrace was perfect for our dog and the dog was made welcome in most areas. We did not have any treatments but enjoyed the use of the pool.

FranceThe bathroom lay-out could be improved (a small side door at the shower to not soak the floor..., more clothes hanger allowing more space to dry things...) The indoor pool felt aged, small and with very few functioning jets. The hammam was OK'ish... sometimes cold as it was functioning with some lag between heating cycles
The staff was friendly and helpful during our stay. The room was of good size and the bed very large :) The outdoor swimming pool was a big plus (17 m long !) and the sauna as hot as I could wish for. Breakfast was good in term of quality and quantity. And the two meals we had there were also good if not exceptional, with good service as always. Finally, we appreciated the bicycle renting provided on site, with very reasonable price tag (lower than at some cycle shops around). Location is not in the major plus of this hotel but it is very close to the sea still (5 mins walk to the beach) and 10/15 mins walk from Ars en Ré restaurants.
