All was memorable! Only difficulty was Hohwald itself as its only epicerie was closed and only one restaurant was opened (dinner at Petit Auberge was excellent, however)

One of the most memorable places in France. Elizabeth is an energetic and thoughtful host. I will never forget her kindness to this tired and wet hiker (walked in the rain all afternoon). Make sure to get your breakfast (fresh hot pastries and baguette)

One has to be open to the fact that Elisabeth's home is full of history and stories. There is nothing that we could say we didn't like.

Everything! It's like going home to family. Elisabeth is such a nice person, with so many beautiful stories to tell. She is such a wonderful person. The place is clean and full of memories . And the detail of the decorations. We had the blue room.. where almost everything is blue: the deco, the bedsheets, the bathroom and the cups and the spoons 😍😍😍. Elisabeth took her time to make this so her. 🥰 It's like going home. Thank you Elisabeth for this beautiful moment ❤️

Quirkiness may not suit some people as quite cluttered and stairs to accommodation tricky to navigate due to tree branches crossing the walkway.

Elisabeth is a very warm, welcoming and caring owner who wants to make sure you have everything you need during your stay. We only stayed 1 night on our way through the Alsace region but we were as much welcome as other guests who stayed longer.

A comfortable bed, a sense of cleanliness and a good bathroom is all I need for a stay, but here I could hardly stay for some hours, no way to unpack your things or hangs your cloths, because the room is fully occupied with the host stuff The room is dark, full of old furniture and irrelevant things, it is not possible to use the balcony, the cleanliness is questionable.

As already mentioned in many other reviews, this is truly an exceptional place. Exactly the opposite of the sterile, nondescript appartments you frequently find these days. It very much emanates the love and care with which Elisabeth maintains the property. The fitments may not be the latest generation, but everything works well and was very clean. While many guests seem to choose the place for a stop-over, we can also recommend it very much for a full vacation stay, like we did. It's a very calm, rural area with great opportunities for hiking, running, and cycling as well as city excursions to Colmar, Strasbourg, or Sélestat and the numerous points of interest in the Alsace area.
