Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Absolutely perfect location for a hike to the Cirque. The hotel is dark which gives gothic vibes which we loved! Breakfast was lovely, stunning views and a great little place outside with lovely restaurants and shops. We loved the lady on reception, she gave us so much info about the area, thank you ♥️

United StatesMy wife found the bed a bit too firm but I thought it was just right and got a great night’s sleep.
What a great spot to explore from, or just relax. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. It’s nice being in Gavarnie after the hordes leave. Restaurant at hotel wasn’t open for dinner but there are plenty of choices in minutes. We sincerely appreciated the owner “moving the walls” and making sure we had a room that worked for us. It’s a gorgeous place to stay.

Location fab. Room looked out to circus. Friendly staff with good advice for walks and excellent English. Go up steep route 3 on left side towards the circus and come back on easier route 2 on other side - or flat downhill route 1 in the middle.

United StatesThis hotel is truly a hidden gem. Nestled right near the Cirque du Gavarnie, it offers the most stunning views we’ve ever seen, like waking up inside a postcard. The property itself is quaint, cozy, and feels like an oasis in the mountains. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and getting there (including parking) was easy and stress-free. Breakfast was delicious, the baguette and croissant were genuinely the best we’ve had in our lives. A perfect way to start the day. What made our stay truly unforgettable, though, was the kindness and generosity of the staff, especially Lydia. She went above and beyond to help us during a very special time. We got engaged on the Cirque du Gavarnie hike, and Lydia helped me coordinate with a local photographer and made everything smooth and meaningful. Her support made our engagement day even more magical. We would absolutely stay at Hotel Vignemale again. Between the stunning location, cozy charm, and incredible service, it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had.

CanadaI was a little disappointed that the restaurant was closed. And at this price point, there has to be wifi in the guest rooms.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The room was quite small for the price, but the view was very nice.

Switzerland- No dinner available in the hotel - Reception is closed for long periods - ask for the door code in advance if you arrive late
- Unrivalled view of the famous mountain "cirque" and highest waterfall of Europe from terrace and breakfast room - Historical building with "atmosphere" - Plenty of restaurants as well as one food store within 5 minutes walking distance - 10 minutes walk from bus stop at tourist office - Extremely calm - Many great hikes start from the doorstep

United KingdomThe large soft bed wasn't ideal for a sensitive back. It was also too big for the available space, making for awkward access on one side and there were no bedside cabinets. The hotel was not full, but there was no mention of an upgrade to a better room and / or with views towards the cirque.
Very friendly and helpful staff. We were well looked after, particularly regarding the loan of an ice-pack to ease a troublesome back problem plus walking poles to aid a lovely walk to the Cirque de Gavarnie. Great views of the Cirque from the front of the hotel. Safe parking for our motorcycle.

United KingdomVery expensive for what you get. The rooms are large but overall it’s pretty basic. Breakfast is an expensive extra, there are no tea& coffee facilities in the room and very patchy WiFi. No other amenities/ facilities available. Everything well kept but VERY dated, given they charge so much is strange that nothing seems to be reinvested back into the hotel
Amazing view, clean rooms and friendly staff
