Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The flat was very comfortable with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Clean and tidy, no complaints. The owner was available to contact via text message for any issues we had.

The flat was much bigger than I expected and exceeded my expectation. It was equipped with all the necessary items you would find in a flat. The kitchen has all the usual appliances needed for cooking and meeting dietary needs (a working fridge, cutleries, plates cups etc). The WiFi works fine and easy to get the bus to travel around. The host Matthew was very responsive and extremely polite. He responded to me with the details needed to check in as soon as I booked the property and suggested I can contact him if I needed help. When I had a problem with the boiler, he came promptly and resolved the problem. He was very apologetic and told me he would move me to another apartment if the problem reoccur. ,

The lock broke, so I wasn't able to lock the door overnight which was abit scary, but the host was really helpful with getting it fixed.
I was up visiting Barney for my grandfathers 100th birthday. The property is right in town and also so close to some beautiful walks! I will definitely be coming back!

Just a few maintenance issues to be resolved - eg front door handle falling off.
Good location, a nice home-from-home feel, good kitchen, living room and bedroom / bathroom.

Booking .com app was useless, alerting me to messages then, when I went searching none to be found. Fortunately the host provided a mobile phone number so I was able to communicate
This is self catering but tea coffee and sugar available all the things you would need to make yourself at home. Everything was straightforward . Wonderful accommodation, a real retreat, very peaceful. I expect to return

Could have done with some information on how to turn the heating and hot water on, and there is no phone signal in the flat. The WIFI was OK once I managed to login to the router

Perhaps more detailed instructions for the heating and WiFi which would also have saved Matthew having a "call out" in the evening when we arrived.
Breakfast was not provided but the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. Matthew, the landlord arrived promptly when we were having difficulty understanding the heating system. So all was well!

The location was fantastic, the property was extremely comfortable and spacious and the furnishings were lovely. It was beyond clean and we are extremely happy! The owner was extremely friendly and communicative and I couldn’t rate them high enough! Thankyou very much!

Shower unit needs securing back onto the wall properly- but I imagine that Matthew will be attending to that right away!
Second time staying at the flat and did not disappoint - excellent value, spacious accommodation. This time with the unexpected addition of fast WiFi and two flat screen Smart TVs
