How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The guest house was exceptionally clean, decorated with a personal touch from the owner. The hosts made us feel like at home. The guest house is located in a covenient place - it's close to the main points of interest like restaurants, Sainsbury's and the railway station.

Nothing, everything was great.
Great location and our room was a really good size and comfortable for three of us staying. Breakfast was fantastic our hosts Linda and Chris couldn’t have been more h er mogul or attentive. Very reasonably priced.

We liked everything A nice place to relax after a long walk before dinner
It was very clean, a short 10 minute walk to the town centre, and the staff were lovely Linda and Chris made us feel very welcome and made us a great breakfast every day We’ll certainly stay here next time in Windermere Thank you very much :)

Great hosts, couldn't do enough for you, very attentive and lovely breakfast. Really good location, short walk to either Bowness or Windsor, in a residential street with ample free parking and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the central areas to relax a little when you wanted to go back to your room.

The hotel is very pleasant and very clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and the meals are delicious and filling. I am extremely pleased and satisfied with my stay at this hotel and wholeheartedly recommend it.

I stayed with Linda and Chris for a second time! It was as wonderful as my first time. It is very cozy and in a good location. Easy enough to reach the train station and other sights around Windermere. I love Linda's breakfast and everything about the stay

The only negative I can think of is finding parking in the area. That said, there is usually a space.
Immaculate, so friendly, the staff make a tremendous effort, with ease! Staying here really added to our experience in the Lakes.

I had a lovely, clean, well-apppointed and spacious room; my dietary needs were kindly catered for and Linda and Chris were super hosts. The value for money was amazing. Adam House is ideally located for access to Windermere, and parking nearby was very easy. I had a very enjoyable stay.

Absolutely nothing.
Great location, close to shops, bars, train station and the Lake. Lovely clean, cosy guest house, Linda was a great host and very helpful. Her breakfasts are superb! I enjoyed my visit and would highly recommend.

The little matter of the washing machine on until 2.30am beneath my room. Sounded like a spaceship launching at times.
Loved Linda, she's so friendly and helpful. She cooks a great breakfast! My bed was comfy, my room was cosy, and I was able to walk wherever I needed to, with Linda's advice and guidance. Thank you. I'll be back.
