We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe bedding was dirty. Some of the pillows were very smelly with mice nibbled areas. All floor areas were dirty, there had been no vacuuming or cleaning done. A basket with condiments and tea and coffee was kindly left for us, but the items felt tacky and upon closer inspection we found items at the bottom that mice had been nibbling. It was obvious that most of the furnishings had been stored somewhere damp where vermin were present !
The location was good

United KingdomI booked this based on previous reviews, pictures and price, and was very surprised to discover that a 10 star review had been submitted in my name without my knowledge or consent within half-an-hour of vacating. I did contact Booking.com about this. It appears Booking.com are aware of these fake reviews and I am surprised they allow this to continue. Note, the photographs shown are not of the accommodation you will be staying in. The fake reviews and photographs really amount to mis-selling, so be advised. The cabin is really tired and in real need of some serious TLC. The shower leaks and there are tiles coming away from the wall. A flag pinned to the ceiling in the bedroom barely conceals the water damage to the ceiling. Electricity is not included in the price and has to be paid for via a meter so make sure you have some pound coins to hand. There was no mention of this prior to arrival. The bed is a back-breaker, extremely soft mattress with a hollow in the middle. The bottom line is, would we stay again and the answer would be a resounding NO! If for no other reason than the false advertising and awful nights sleep we both endured.
The location is pleasant, very quiet and peaceful. The hosts were friendly and communication prior to arrival was excellent. Everything was provided, even a couple of sachets of dog food for our four legged family member. It was light and airy. There is a dog walking area on site where bins are provided.

United KingdomThat the host didn't answer at all, there is no clear directions to where Nautica is, nobody knows. No info of how to get the key. Booking.com expected us to wait 45mins until host answered their request. Waste of time.

United KingdomWe rang the property to let them know we had arrived. As arranged at 4:30. The man Jonathon answered and was very abrupt and rude . Not very welcoming. He told me to shut up . The owner apparently was shopping. The most important item of a stay is a bed This had 2 single bed bases from the 60s by the looks of it . With marks all over it and so dirty. A narrow smaller mattress on top that was so stained . So did not even fit the bed. The owner said , when we spoke to her later that it had a new bed. Half eaten food in the kitchen, which was some kind of welcoming hamper!! There was a dirty sink . There was a pillow in sitting room with no cover and stains on a soft stool thing with Wires all under the TV . The place in the map was supposed to be nearer Dartmouth. The owner said they were raising money for the Salvation Army . A so called garden was just communal grass . With plastic chairs out the front. I don’t believe there was a private pool as stated . The blinds were all dusty.h
Chalet 420. with an E on the end . Nothing It was full of opened food. Dirty dressing gown hanging up and worse. Which is why we had to walk away from it . In fact most the photos on Booking.com are totally irrelevant and do not match the interior of the property. Except maybe the turquoise mat .

United KingdomThe 'chalet' was dirty, grubby and smelt. A basket of opened food was on the side. When we checked the beds there were hairs on the sheets, there was even pyjamas under the pillows, obviously the sheets had not been changed. We were also asked for extra money for the electric. We sent a text to Helena saying that we were not happy with the accomodation, we did not receive a reply. We booked elsewhere for the second night and left at 7:30 am in the morning, after a sleepless night. We made contact with Helena eventually, who said she would have offered us an upgrade, she would not be able to refund us any money for the second night, because booking.com have the money. She wished us luck with complaining to booking.com. Apparently she rents the property to raise money for the Salvation army! We are in the process of contacting them. PLEASE Do not rent this accommodation.
Nothing the accomodation as not the same as what was originally advertised.

United KingdomFirst, the accommodation is not at the location indicated on the listing/map, its about half a mile further away from Dartmouth at Norton Park. Other accommodation providers at Norton Park have manged to accurately identify their location. However, “Travel Marvel” have positioned their location in close proximity to a supermarket and regular bus route. Whereas Norton Park is outside the town. That matters because you can’t walk to Dartmouth from here, there’s no pavements which makes it VERY DANGEROUS. There is a bus, 92 - Totnes to Dartmouth but it comes very infrequently – like every 2 hours. No information is provided on this in the accommodation. Second the quality of the accommodation is dreadful. None of the photos in the listing are reflective of the accommodation we stayed in. Its damp, it smells, it’s dirty. There was no toilet roll (would have come in handy at the end of a 4 hour drive!), none of the appliances worked, there were someone else's clothes in the wardrobe and no linen on the main bed. The accommodation was listed as sleeps 3 adults but the single “bed” had a bed stead that was shorter than the mattress. There was a welcome pack that included very random stuff like a powdered Isotonic drink and some out of date Naan Bread – no milk or useful things like that. I don’t know if the accommodation is run by a rank amateur or a scam artist but DO NOT COME TO THIS ACCOMODATION.
I’m writing this reflecting on a weekend away with utter astonishment. I have stayed in lots of different types of accommodation all over the world good and bad, but this is by some distance the worst accommodation I have ever experienced.

United KingdomI booked a flat with one double bed and two singles, but I was given a chalet with one double bed and a settee that wasn't even a sofa bed. I also booked a flat with a private pool, there was no pool. The staff were rude when I complained. They don't seem to have any idea of the meaning of the word truth. They did finally give us a second chalet as well, but I was still down a bed and missing a pool. The bed clothes hadn't been dried properly and had been put back on the beds damp. One was ripped. We were then accused of ripping the sheet. They came into the chalet while we were out without asking our permission. Without doubt the worst holiday experience of my life.
The location, the view.

United KingdomI truly don’t know where to start. I turned up at the address the owners advertise as their location only to find they are much farther down the road, it is my opinion that they do this to make it look like they are closer to Dartmouth than the actually are, hence deliberately misleading clients. I was met by Jimmy who was a friendly chap but in my hurry to get to Sainsbury’s (closes at 5pm) I didn’t have much time to look around. On my return from the supermarket, I was astonished to see the full horror unfold in front of my eyes. This please is, in a word filthy, I was sticking to the floor, I put down the nasty grey towels supplied to walk on, every utensil was dirty and greasy, remnants of previous victims food was in cupboards, the electric appliances should in my opinion condemned, every surface was dirty and the pots and pans where thick with rust, but worst of all the smell of damp was overwhelming, the beds (two singles) were the most horrendous thing I have ever tried to sleep on (2 singles and a double advertised) there wasn’t even pillow cases on the pillows or mattress protectors just a thin sheet. After trying to sleep (fully clothed🤮) I eventually decided that my car was the best option, so at 03.30 I moved to my car, at least I could breath there. I decided that my two night stay would last a few hours. The owners offered me another chalet the next day I didn’t want to risk it, I still can’t get the smell out of my noses and anyway, if I was given the chalet I booked all this could have been avoided. I am not a vindictive man but I urge any potential clients to book elsewhere, this place is simply a health hazard. It’s difficult to believe that after the COVID pandemic places like this still exist.
Really nothing, this place isn’t fit for human habitation

United KingdomFirstly the main issue was the location. This property is NOT 1 mile from Dartmouth as shown on Booking.com. It is actually in a holiday park called Norton Park - this is not walkable to the town centre. We had to spend an additional £50 on taxis into Dartmouth for the wedding we were attending. Secondly this property does NOT have 1 double bed and 2 singles as advertised. It has a tiny double bed. The pictures are NOT of the actual property you will be staying in. Thirdly, this chalet was the dirtiest place I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. When you enter the stench of mould hits you in the face. The property was also covered in flies, dead and alive. The "welcome pack" was full of out of date food that other unfortunate guests had clearly left behind. The property was cluttered with dirty junk. The bedding and towels had mysterious stains on them. Fourth, I woke up on the final night to find out Helena had written a false review under my name. She did this by asking for my confirmation number and PIN code from booking.com to 'claim the money' which I naively gave her before staying at my stay. THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE ALL WRITTEN BY THE OWNER, SHE IS CALLED HELENA. Helena also does not respond to any messages regarding issues during and after the stay. Had it not been for passing out parade and other hotels being booked up we would have left in an instant.
Leaving.
