Shower water pressure. Reception mostly unmanned, though staff apparently was available in the attached pub. Online check in a complete waste of effort and time, as you need to fill out all the information again on a paper form upon arrival.

Spanking new room and bathroom, sparkling clean and (even though not quite on the waterfront) the best location in town. Geeat cooked breakfast to order, though remaining buffet items could certainly be expanded a bit. Plenty of outlets for charging devices (including USB A and C) all around the room - especially plentiful by the bedside.

Check in was problematic, as there was nobody at reception, this was at approx 7.30pm. There was a sign at reception with instructions to go to the bar. Unfortunately the entrance to the bar is next to the toilets, with the distinctive odour of urine, and the one member of bar staff was really busy serving customers with food, and wrapping cutlery for them. He then took us back to reception, and checked us in, but could not take payment which would be the responsibility of the other member of staff on duty (in the restaurant). That member of staff confirmed he'd be through in a second, but after waiting for a few minutes hanging about at reception we just went into the restaurant, where we found the member of staff chatting to a customer at a table. As we also wished to have a meal (and orders stop at 8pm), and there is a notice saying 'please wait to be seated', we waited to be seated . After standing at the sign, and having not been noticed, we decided to sit at a table which would require us to walk past the member of staff, who would then clearly notice us. After sitting down, our food order was taken in a reasonable time, drinks were delivered, and the meal was enjoyed. On finishing the meal, and trying to catch the attention of the member of staff to ask for the bill, it was again difficult to gain his attention as he was dealing with other customers at the bar, delivering meals etc. I ended up going to stand at the bar, payment was made, and I then asked about payment for the room which we had to go back to reception to do. The only negative comment about the room is that the curtains have suffered from lifting condensation from the windowsill and are stained from the bottom up. Otherwise the room was lovely, just not sure it was worth £234 for 2 people for one night.

The room was spacious and clean with comfortable beds, excellent en suite, and good temperature. The dining facilities were good, with plenty of choice for someone with dietary requirements, and decent portion sizes.

Member of staff in bar was obnoxious, (man with beard)we went to go eat at Neuk in the evening, was nobody there, were then asked if we had booked a table and that the table we sat at was booked even though he had seen us walk by and there were no reserved signs on any tables?!?, we decided not to eat there and went elsewhere, a pity as rest of staff were very nice and welcoming

Our visit coincided with some major renovation/expansion work. Bar had no draught beers because of maintenance work.

Hand basin in bathroom of room 103 was far too low and therefore very inconvenient for people of normal height like us . The bathroom window could not be closed once opened to bring in fresh air.

The check in/out desk is not staffed all the time and it was a bit confusing as to how to check out. However, someone was there when we needed to check out.
