Showing signs of wear, bedroom doors, window sills. Facilities in rooms were excellent though. The spa staff were not as friendly as the hotel staff. Spa was also showing signs of being tired.

Not to large, easy to get around. Classic. The staff were all friendly.

The food in the restaurant was overpriced and underwhelming. When I pay £55 for a small ribeye steak, I expect it to be tender, not tough. The burger I had the next day was pretty good though

The spa was a real highlight

The food in Reflections and room service was poor and over priced. The Spa was over crowded. My rate included breakfast but full English breakfast was an extra charge. This is unacceptable for a standard room rate well in excess of £300 per night

Location and grounds Afternoon tea on the terrace was excellent as was Sunday lunch in AG's

The steam rooms were in the changing rooms in the Spa. The breakfast was a little disappointing. There did not seem to be enough staff to cope with the demand. We had to ask three times for coffee and then were served it twice, I almost sent my Eggs Benedict back as it was nearly too cold to eat but fed back our concerns as we checked out. On reflection room service may have been a better option for breakfast. We would however definitely stay again and loved the experience.

Everything was fantastic and lived up to the five star rating. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. and all staff were welcoming and friendly. We were upgraded and stayed in a garden suite which was very well appointed and was enormous compared to other rooms at other hotels. The Spa was great with both indoor and outdoor facilities. Private hot tubs for hire, if you wanted them..

There is no separate dinner menu so we had one lunch, and then ate at a couple of local restaurants for our dinners: TBH there is not a lot of choice locally unless you go for the very high-end dining. Some of the seating looks tired and the local birds are pretty active (!) so I would have expected the furniture and balcony to be given a quick clean each morning. Prices are reasonable for 5-star but given my comments perhaps 4-star would be more accurate. That said, we have a wonderful time and would go back, despite the niggles.

The spa area, the room, and the public spaces were well cared-for and comfortable. Excellent pool, mini pool with jacuzzi and separate jacuzzi too. Very well-maintained and a lot of seating. The spa suite room was huge and had a sizeable bathroom with a free-standing tub and large shower, which also offers a steam room facility - not experienced that before. The restaurant offered a good choice for lunch, although it is not cheap. It was great to have a garden with a hot tub - the weather was amazing which helped. Good indoor pool and an excellent hot stone massage - thanks Belle!

The pool and spa facilities are not included in the hotel booking price, for a couple this is an extra £80 per night. It was my fault for not thoroughly checking beforehand, and the booking.com description with "extra charges" looked to me like it meant there was the possibility of special treatments which cost extra, which is normal. But no, it will cost each person £40 a night to have pool and jacuzzi access. Not the best considering the supposed 5 star rating and base price. We paid for one night before we realized it just wasn't worth it, but charged us at the end for every night anyway. It was refunded later but that assumption felt scammy to me.

The staff were very pleasant and lovely, welcoming and professional. The surrounding area is great for discovering some quintessential English countryside and heritage, I think we found around 5 or six amazing castles/manors with gardens in the nearby area just a short drive away.

Price of the dinner, more than Ritz London. Bottle of still water 9£, corn fed chicken 32£, soup of the day 11£, desert 12£, the cheapest glass of wine was 12£… plus service charge of course. Total for 2ppl with 2 glasses of wine 170£

Staff was amazing, spa was relaxing, it smelled nice everywhere, building is amazing …

We were grateful for the upgrade but felt the room was a bit tired and updates are needed. There was not a turn down service that we were aware of.

The Hotel is beautiful and the drive up the long driveway is impressive. We loved the facilities, the bar and the room. The food was excellent.

If the AA inspector visited the night we did, this place would lose at least 2 of its alleged 5 stars. Unheated dining room, grease strained menus, restaurant sign crafted by a child, cold mashed potatos, cold gravy, barely heated sauna, tepid jacuzzi, the worst coffee at breakfast...

    The bed was comf.
