We felt breakfast could have been a bit more generous is quantity also proper tea in a tea pot would be most wely. The cost of the room was on the expensive side so a better quality breakfast would have been appreciated.

Great, friendly staff. Comfortable bedroom and bed. Close to the city centre which was so convenient. Would definitely revisit and recommend to family and friends.

Not sure if meant to bring my own . But no soap or bodywash available in the room . Had to go buy my own 1st night there . TV screen was very poor quality looked like it was on its last legs. Unwatchable tbh but watched never the less .

It was extremely noisy. The pub downstairs had their TVs on at full volume until 01:30 and we weren’t able to sleep with them on. Completely understood it might be a bit noisy due to it being a pub, but we weren’t prepared for this!

The room was fantastic. Really nice and modern. The bathroom was really fancy. Everything was nice and clean. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were good.

I have mobility issues and struggled with the stairs.....my own fault, l should have checked that the property had a lift before l booked.

The Black Lion Hotel is within a ten minute walk from all the best shops. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was reasonably clean and comfortable. The hotel rooms are on two floors above the bar but as there is no lift it may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. We ate in the bar both nights, they have reasonably priced bar meals, burgers, chicken wings etc. An excellent full English breakfast is also served in the bar for hotel guests until 11am. We enjoyed our stay at the Black Lion Hotel.

Everything was perfect apart from the water pressure from the shower and taps. We did call downstairs and he said that they’ve been having problems with the water and he would go down and have a look. The shower did work eventually so it was just a minor issue. The breakfast was perfect and the manager who served us was very friendly and polite. Overall a lovely place 😁

The plumbing in the Sankey Soap was a little hit and miss on this visit, the shower started then went off then started again and at one point we couldn't get cold water from the tap in the sink. We have stayed in this room before and it's the first time this has happened.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is great. The hotel is situated close to transport and shopping.

We enjoyed our stay room was warm but only noticed thermostat the next morning. It did say it in the information in the room.

It was very central to public transport, shops and restaurants. Cosy room breakfast was great. Thermostat in the room and electric fan. Netflix also on TV.

I was a bit surprised when I wanted to eat the breakfast that was supposed to be included at the hotel, and I received the info that the chef at a different hotel was sick and therefore the chef of the Black Lion needed to jump in (therefore no Breakfast served) - I was offered the option to eat breakfast at the Mitre Hotel, but as my flight was early in the morning I wasn’t able to…

I really liked the location and the room - which was really great. I also experienced very welcoming staff at the hotel.

We had no water, had to ring down the first night and son got shower, then we went out for the evening. When we came back no water to even wash hands. The following morning, not enough water for two showers. I believe there is a problem with the water system at the minute. So this wouldn’t put me off returning. If your mobility isn’t the best ask for a room on the first floor.

It was very clean and convenient to the city. The staff were lovely. I loved the idea of it being an old English pub with rooms.
