Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Quiet location, off street parking, clean and comfortable, with modern kitchen. Walkable to the town and pubs. Owner left us a nice treat too.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Aspen Apartments. Alex and Penny ensured we had everything we needed and showed extreme kindness with helping us with our predicament to ensure we were able to enjoy our trip to Scotland. Fantastic location and an exceptional clean apartment that has everything you need. We would highly recommend!

Bright , airy and welcoming flat with great views over The Clyde and Arrochar Alps . Well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Free parking on site and good communication from friendly hosts. Within walking distance of Helensburgh .

Nice location for walking into Helensburgh (10-15minutes) Very quiet top floor apartment with good views. Clean comfortable bed, plenty of hanging space with plenty of coat hangers. Clean well appointed kitchen with everything you need. Clean bathroom will great pressure shower. A TV that I can actually work and find channels on. Very safe feel to the area with plenty of parking. The host (Penny) even left a couple of beers in the fridge for us. I would like to stay here again.

The building itself could use some tlc, but that wasn't a big issue
Penny (the host) was incredibly helpful and prompt to reply to any queries. This made a massive difference to our stay and made us feel looked after. The apartment is well-equipped with everything one might need for a short stay and the location is lovely too. We would definitely look to stay again if in the area!

The building looked a bit like a put-up-in-a-hurry new build, but don't be put off by that; it's another story once you enter the flat. There has been great attention to detail, cleanliness, fire safety and beautiful views.
The location was excellent. There were views of the hills from most angles of the apartment. The host was very friendly and generous - we were give a bottle of Prosecco on arrival. The kitchen was well equipped with cutlery, crockery, a coffee percolator, a dishwasher and a washing machine. The living room was spacious and the bedrooms were comfortable and adequately proportioned, with large wardrobes and sufficient hangers. The flat was cleaned to a very high standard and the bathroom was well stocked, so there was no need to bring toiletries with you. There was also plenty of room to park a car or two at the back of the buildings.

The beds were very creaky. Lack of curtains and the blinds didn’t shut out all the light so woken up much earlier than we would have liked.
It was a lovely private little escape for us

Absolutely fabulous find in the most idilic place with beautiful views. Highly recommended home from home. Lovely hosts Penny & Alex leaving a welcome card , shortbread and Prossecco was a lovely gesture.

All was to our full satisfaction, and the host was very generous, with some complementary provisions and a welcoming gift, all very much appreciated.
Excellent apartment and super host. Very good and quiet location, with easy parking and everything we needed in the accommodation. Would thoroughly recommend to friends and family, and we plan to stay again - far more homely and comfortable than a hotel stay.

the mattress in the smaller bedroom dipped severely in the middle and appears old, so my husband and I kept rolling into the middle of the bed which caused some discomfort during the night. this is literally the only thing we would say that needs changed because the property all in all is fantastic
spacious, family friendly, spotlessly clean, internet great, good parking, really hospitable hosts, quiet, stones throw to the beach and Kidston Park which was great for the kids.

whilst it wasn’t a problem for us, there are two small flights of stairs, which may be a barrier for some.

It had parking, which is great for Helensburgh, and the flat was like home from home. Nice bottle of bubbles in the fridge and our host contacted us to make sure everything was OK. Couldn’t fault it 😀
