How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation was OK. 10-15 min walk to train station. Room was clean and shower was good.
Didn't know about parking charges in hotel car park until arrival. £10/day seems excessive. £15 PP for breakfast also expensive. Room was very hot and unable to keep window open. Fan was in room helped slightly. Parking spaces very tight lengthways. If you have a long vehicle it might not hit.

Verified reviewHotel accommodation and location exactly as described.
The signpost indicating the hotel is not so clearly visible when driving past in the car. We considered the price a little expensive when considering the quality of the accommodation and its location.

Verified reviewReally friendly staff, great location to town and food was fantastic! The breakfast provided was cooked to order and they also offered cereals, yoghurts, fruit and juice. Generally quite quiet jn terms of guests coming and going, some places can get noisy but everyone was respectful of others. Overall a great little hotel a stones-throw from town.
Room was quite small and ventilation was a bit difficult to manage - kept window open to allow air in when I was in, (but it did get noisy being on the main road), and extractor fan was used when having a shower but there was a lot of condensation. The room was provided with a fan, but may I recommend a dehumidifier to help with moisture.

Verified reviewThe staff were lovely. The honesty bar was a great idea. Bathroom was nice.
The room was hot, when you open the windows the noise from the traffic meant the TV had to be turned up so loud I was sure it would disturb other guests. The mattress and chair were uncomfortable and the carpet was shabby. The hotel is up a steep hill.
Dear Rachel, Thanks for leaving your feedback of your recent visit to stay at The Asperion. We appreciate some aspects of the decor and the comfort levels will not be to all of our guests liking and although the location is quite well advertised we are on a busy main road just outside the town centre which will mean traffic noise. We do hope the one night mid week stay had with us will not deter you from visiting again. Should you wish a quieter night's sleep I would suggest either a king sized room or ask the team for a double that faces off the road and we will try our best to assist you. Best regards, Caroline Williams. Hotel Manager.

Verified reviewA clean modern hotel, conveniently located, only short walk into Guildford City centre and Railway station. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and comfortable with a great shower. Breakfast was plentiful and had everything you could want.
What a lovely review Andrew and thanks for choosing to stay with us in Guildford. Our breakfast chef Josh is a great asset to the team and always does a lovely breakfast, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Best wishes, Caroline. Manager.

Verified reviewJoseph was extremely welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was very nice.
It’s a small property which didn’t feel like a hotel and could benefit from modern facilities. The parking is tight for a big car.
As always we strive to improve our guest experience Patience and we are sad to hear you thought The Asperion didn't exactly match your expectations of what a "hotel" is. Our Victorian built main building has 11 rooms with another 4 larger king sized rooms at the rear in the more "modern" part. Although we offer both breakfast and dinner cooked to order with a bar area with on-site car parking we have no space for a gym or a spa which are offered by other larger more corporate hotels in the town centre. We do hope you will consider us again should you visit Guildford. Best wishes, Caroline Williams.

Dear Bellal, Thanks for the great score Bellal and I am so pleased you arrived safely with your children to check in after our front of house team left for the evening at 22.00 on Saturday. Our parking charges for Asperion are £10 per car as per standard but on this occasion it was an oversight by my team on Sunday and I am more than happy to offer it gratis. We do hope you and the children enjoyed your breakfasts and we hope to welcome you again in the future. Best wishes, Caroline Williams. Manager.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect despite the hill, it was a wonderful walk to the town. Unfortunately I did not have time to enjoy breakfast but the menu was impressive.
Thanks for choosing to stay at The Asperion and hopefully we will get to welcome you again soon. Maybe next time you will get a chance to try the breakfast!! Best wishes, Caroline.
