It's a bit hot. Did mention that to them and they will turn radiators down.

Staff very welcoming and the meals are substantial to say the least. Lamb Curry is a must - look no further than that!

For double rooms, the rooms we were given were small but fine for single occupancy. The shower was not ensuite but shared with one other room on a separate landing so fine for friends travelling together. The stairs up to these two rooms were steep. We ate in the dining room on both evenings and the food was very good and unpretentious (not plain). Prices for wine and other drinks were good value. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. This was the first time I had visited the area (more than 70 years on the planet ). A pleasing landscape, with lovely small towns, historic buildings and visitor attractions. The Auld Cross Keys was an excellent base to explore the area although Denholm itself is relatively small and quiet. Parking nearby was easy and convenient.

It seems a little picky, but the single beds were very narrow. Having said that, I slept very well.

The room was very clean and well set up. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food was excellent.

    Can't think of anything.

Their staff is their strength, everyone can do all the jobs from serving in the bar and restaurant to reception and cleaning up. Any request dealt with immediately and with a smile, such an experienced and hard working staff, very impressive. Food excellent, obviously very good chefs. Very impressed.

The weather was hot during our visit and we secured the last available room at the front of the premises facing the road . A fan was provided. If you prefer sleeping with the window open and are a light sleeper I recommend booking early and requesting a room facing away from the road. Presumably owing to some peculiarity of the hot water installation the radiator in the hallway leading to the stairs was running very hot "and could not be switched off" which contributed to the heat upstairs, would be nice in the winter.

Evening meal good selection, Haggis bon bons starter excellent. Good breakfast. Very friendly and attentive staff. On-site parking at the rear. Nice range of beer and ales.
