How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Wrong accommodation to for first night, wouldn't wish my worst enemy staying in pod i stayed in first night. Got sorted within 3 hrs of messaging them which was good, Once in new room with own toilet and shower there was no hot water for shower throughout my whole stay. There was however showers you could use across road but was very disappointed as had to keep getting changed to go over for shower, plus 1 day I went to go for shower n there was a guy scrubbing his feet in sink where your meant to brush your teeth. Wouldn't stay here ever again, 2nd worse place I've ever stayed n I've stayed in literally hundreds over the years. Staff were helpful and fast to reply but doesn't change my opinion on digs.

Verified reviewThe pods have power and are nestled right next to the river. There is a full kitchen with plenty of seating. Individual shower stalls and toilets in a shared space.
Things are a bit rundown. No signage anywhere! Also signs to alert traffic that there are pedestrians crossing would be great.

Verified reviewTerrible experience at this hostel. We booked for 9 people, but when we arrived there were only 8 beds prepared. When we asked for an extra mattress (which should have been ready since it was part of our booking), the staff member rolled his eyes and treated us as if we were a nuisance. Instead of apologizing, he demanded that we “prove everything” because he didn’t believe us, which was extremely unprofessional and rude. On top of that, the night was a nightmare — the beds are infested with bed bugs. I woke up covered in bites after just one night. Cleanliness and basic hospitality are completely missing here. Between the dismissive staff attitude, the unprepared room, and the bed bug infestation, this was by far the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had. Avoid this place at all costs.

Verified reviewNothing, it was terrible.
We had the misfortune of staying in micro lodge no 6 which is the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in. We were delayed arriving due to an accident on the road to Inverness. Had we arrived earlier, I would have pitched a tent instead of staying in the pod they gave us. I was travelling with my young daughters and none of us got any sleep as there was a severe mould issue. The smell was unbearable. The pod had not been cleaned. Everything smelled of mould including the bunk bed mattresses. The curtains and blinds were filthy. There was a cup of tea left on top of the corner storage from the last occupants. We had to leave the doors open all night, as the smell of mould was that bad. Never, ever will we stay here again. The owners should be ashamed and the pod condemned. How can they possibly offer this as accommodation in its current state? I’d like to request a full refund.

Verified reviewWe love the location, the cosy pod. We slept in and the magical vibe up the river, the bottom of the grounds which was just a minute's walk away from our accommodation. It was also very useful to have access to a kitchen and kitchen facilities. We're also very grateful to the management team for their patience with a payment issue, understanding and quick response to resolve things. The attitude overall was helpful and friendly.
Didn't like the wasps in the shower and toilets it put us off using it. And my daughter was particularly scared. They seemed to increase a number over the 4 days we were staying there. In the end, we were forced to use toilets off-site. There were also a couple of days when the toilets and showers were not cleaned and the bins were overflowing with rubbish.

Verified reviewThere was a river nearby
The pod was in very poor shape and had mold growing in it. Most of the toilets and showers were closed for use and the bathroom doors were constantly left open with lights on attracting bugs.

Verified reviewThe location was pleasant, featuring a river next to the pod.
To access the kitchen, we need to cross the road. The kitchen is open only from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM and from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. There is only one fridge, and it does not have a freezer. The mattresses are hard. It would be helpful if they could provide a kettle and a microwave in the pod.
